More Moon Information:

Each phase of the moon lasts approximately 5 days.

Lets quickly review the moon's phases:
The first phase of the lunar cycle is the New Moon.  The sun and the moon appear to be in the same part of the sky and rise and set together.  So no moon is visible.
Next the new moon will move to a waxing cresent phase.
The moon continues a counterclockwise orbit; the cresent grows larger or waxes.
One week later the moon will reaches it's second primary phase or The First Quarter.  The moon has moved a quarter of the way around the Earth.  In this phase the moon rises about 6 hours after the sun.
For several days after the First Quarter the moon continues to wax but it is a Waxing Gibbous Phase instead of a Waxing Cresent.  It is more than a quarter but less than a Full Moon.
The Full Moon is the next phase to be reached.  The moon then moves from Waning Gibbous to it's Third or Last Quater Phase.
In a week after the moon moves through it's waning cresent to enter it's Dark Moon Phase.
