CREATING THE  BASIC TAG

Step 1

Open up your tube graphics (3), blinkie mask, and a new transparent image 700 width by 600 height.

At the Material Palette, select a deep solid color that will coordinate with your tube graphic.

Flood fill the transparency with that color.

Step 2

Go to Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image.  At the source window's drop down menu, locate blinkie mask with source luminance checked.  Nothing else should be checked.  Click ok.

Step 3

Go To Layer/Merge/Merge All (flatten).

Step 4

Left click the magic wand and set the magic wand with the same settings as above. Left click the magic wand in the first Oval to select it.

Step 5

Go to Selections/Modify/Contract 2. Make one of your tube graphics active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  With the mover tool, move the image so that most of it fits within the selection.  Go to Selections/Invert and click the delete key.

Go to Selections/Select None.

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 6

Make a second tube graphic active and repeat Step 5.

Step 7

Make the last tube graphic active and repeat Step 5.

Step 8

Go to Image/Resize, using the percent option at 75%, bicubic and Resize all Layers checked.

Step 9

Open up the flower accent.  You can use the blue one or you can colorize it to one that works with your tag.  To colorize, at the Material Palette, select a color from your graphic so that it appears in one of the color boxes.  Left click that color box and when the color selection window opens up, write down the hue and saturation amounts.

Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and type in those amounts.  You should get a color fairly close to the one you selected.

Step 10

Make the flower accent active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  You can apply this flower again, if desired.

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 11

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and Add your text.  Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the settings from above.

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and apply the copyright information to the tag. Go to Layers/Merge/Merge visible.

STEPS FOR CREATING THE BLINKIE EFFECT.

Step 1

Go to Layers/Duplicate.  Do this 10 times so that you have a total of 11 layers.

Step 2

Open up your layer palette, right click the bottom layer, go to rename and left click.  Rename this Layer, Layer 1.

Go to the layer above it and rename that layer, Layer 2.  Do this with all your layers so that you have layer names ranging from Layer 1 to Layer 11.

Step 3

At the material palette, select a color you want for your moving blinkie.  It can be a contrasting color from the same color family or a color from a totally different color family.

Step 4

Left click the eye on every layer so that all your layers are closed off. Each layer will have a red x.

Refer to Blinkie Color Chart for the steps that follow:

We will start with Layer 2.  Leave Layer 1 as is.

Step 5

Left click the eye on Layer 2 to open it up.  With the magic wand, left click the two L2 boxes as you see above.  Flood fill these boxes with the color you selected for your blinkie and go to Selections/Select None. Close off this layer by left clicking the eye.

Step 6

Open up Layer 3 and with your magic wand, select the L3 boxes from the chart above, flood filling these boxes with the blinkie color and going to Selections/Select None. Close off this layer by left clicking the eye.

Step 7

Go to the remaining layers, selecting the appropriate boxes as shown on the chart above and flood filling with the blinkie color.

Step 8

When all your layers are complete, open up all the layers and save this file as a psp or psd file.  We will complete the blinkie in animation shop.  Click here to continue.
