SETTINGS USED IN THIS TUTORIAL

Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black

Step 1

Open a new transparent image 600 width by 600 height and the tube graphic you will be using.  At the Material Palette, in the bottom color box, select a deep (but not dark) color that works well with your tube graphic.  In the top color box, select a lighter shade of the same color family. Left click the top color box and select the gradient tab, using foreground/background linear style with angle and repeats set to 0.

Flood fill the transparency with this foreground-background linear gradient.

Step 2

At the Material Palette, make the top color box white.  Left click the top color box and click where it says textures.  Left click the drop down menu and select grid with angle 0 and scale 157.  Flood fill your image with the grid pattern so that your gradient is filled with white polka dots.

Step 3

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 70%, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Step 4

Open up the layer palette and move the opacity setting over to 60%.

Step 5

Go to Layers/Duplicate and duplicate this layer 3 times so you have a total of 4 layers.

Open up the layer palette and close off the top three layers and make sure you are on the bottom layer.

Step 6

Go to Effects/Plugins/DSB Flux/Center Mirror and use these settings: Mirrors 37, Rotation 0.

Step 7

Open the layer palette, close off the bottom layer and open up the layer above it (second layer).  Make sure you are now on that opened layer.  Repeat Step 6 but change the Rotation to 151.

Step 8

Open the layer palette, close off the second layer and open up the layer above it (third layer).  Make sure you are now on that opened layer.  Repeat Step 6 but change the Rotation to 250.

Step 9

Open the layer palette, close off the third layer and open up the layer above it (top layer).  Make sure you are now on that opened layer.  Repeat Step 6 but change the Rotation to 360.

Step 10

Open up the layer palette and open up all your layers.  Save this file as a psp or psd file.

Step 11

Reopen the file you just saved and go to edit/copy.  Now go to Edit/Paste as New Image.  Close the psp or psd file you had saved in Step 10 - we will now work with the new image. (We are using this file as a guide to add our graphics, text and copyright).

Step 12

Open up your tube graphic and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the new tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  Go to Image/Resize, using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Step 13

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.

Step 14

Add any scrap elements, preset shapes or brushes.

Step 15

Add your text with a drop shadow (you can use the same one as in Step13) and add your copyright information.

Step 16

Open up your layer palette and close off the bottom layer (the layer with the tag design).

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.  You should now only have your graphic, additional elements, text and copyright on a transparent background.  You should not have the tag design.  Save this file as a psp or psd file with another name.

We will now animate the tag in animation shop.
