My Picture Tag

Supplies

Jasc/Corel's Paint Shop Pro any version

Tube(s) of Choice:  I used two tubes.  You can use one tube, if you rather, for the image, as well as for the picture. The tube images I am using are by Suzanne Woolcott.  You can purchase her wonderful art in tube and full form at AMI which stands for Artistic Minds, Inc.

Zip File with Transparent image and Easel, Brushes, and Palette all on different layers. These  art graphics are all from Microsoft Clipart Media which were tubed and colorized by me.

SETTING USED IN THIS TUTORIAL

Magic Wand

Mode: Add/Shift, Match Mode: RGB Value, Tolerance 0, Contiguous checked, Feather: 0, Anti-Alias checked and outside selected.

Drop Shadow:

Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black

Step 1

Unzip the artist zip file and you will see a large transparent image with all the artist items on separate layers.  We will use this transparency for the actual tag.

Step 2

Open up one of your tube graphics. Make your tube graphic active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make your tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.

Step 3

If your image is too large, resize your image by going to Image/Resize using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked. Left click the mover tool and move the image to where you would like it on the tag.

Step 4

Go to Effects/3D/Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.

Step 5

Now comes the fun - you can arrange all the artist images anyway you like but do leave the picture portion of the easel graphic untouched for right now. If you want to add some of your own images, you can, as well as deleting some that have come with the tutorial.

Step 6

At the Material Palette, select two colors for the top and bottom color boxes that you will use as a linear gradient for the picture portion of the easel.  The colors should coordinate with your graphics. Left click the top color box and when the color selection window opens, select gradient, linear style, foreground/background with angle set to 60 and repeats set to 0.

Step 7

Left click the magic wand using the settings from above.  Left click the magic wand inside the picture portion of the easel and go to Selections/Modify/Expand 5.  Flood fill the selection with the gradient but do not deselect.

Step 8

Open up your second tube graphic image and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.

Left click the mover tool and move the image so that a portion of it fits within the selection.  If the image is too large to fit, repeat Step 3, reducing the image size.

Step 9

Once you have the image so it fits within the selection, go to Selections/Invert and then click the delete key.

Go to Selections/Select None.  Your image should now be within the picture portion of the easel.

Step 10

Now if you want to rearrange the position of any of the artist items, you can do it now by moving the items to where you want them on the tag.

Step 11

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten).

Step 12

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 75% or smaller, bicubic and resize all layers checked.

Step 13

Add your copyright information and license number, if applicable.

Step 14

Left click the crop tool and draw a rectangle around the area you wish to keep, eliminating the excess white background palette that you do not need. Double left click inside the rectangle  or left click the check mark at the crop ribbon.

Step 15

Save your file as a jpg and you will have a blank tag you can use for tag offers.  When making individual tags, open up the file,  go to Layers/New Raster Layer, add your text with a drop shadow and save your file with a different name.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
