VM Distortion - Small Pox Filter

Tube of Choice - Preferable one with an oriental flavor.  The tube I am using is by Ayumi K.  Please visit her beautiful online gallery by clicking here.

Materials in oriental design zip package include:  Asian Letters background and pagoda.  The fan animation, created by me, can be downloaded here. The fan and pagoda images were provided by Microsoft Clipart Media, a great source of FREE clipart!

Please remember, when creating your signature tags, to only use permission art and to apply the copyright information on the tag which would include both the artist's name and online gallery link. 

Font of choice.

SETTING USED IN THIS TUTORIAL

Magic Wand Settings used in this tutorial are:

Mode: Add/Shift, Match Mode: RGB Value, Tolerance 0, Contiguous checked, Feather: 0, Anti-Alias checked and outside selected.

Drop Shadow: (optional)

Vertical Offset 2, Horizontal Offset 2, Opacity 80, Blur 5, Color Black

Step 1

Open a new transparent image 600 width by 600 height. Left click the top color box at the Material Palette and when the color selection window opens up, type in this color code, #ad7b4a where it says HTML.

Flood Fill the graphic with this color.

Step 2

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 90%, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Step 3

Go to Effects/Plugins/VM Distortion/Small Pox and use these settings:

Frequency 93, Strength 116, Direction 172.

Step 4

Left click the magic wand using the settings from above and left click the magic wand on the tag graphic.  Go to Selections/Modify Contract 3 and DO NOT DESELECT.

Step 5

Open up the oriental background.  Left click the top color box at the Material Palette and when the Color Selection Box opens, select Pattern, left click the down arrow and locate the oriental pattern using an angle of 0 and a scale of 100%.  Flood fill the tag graphic with this pattern and go to Selections/Select None. 

Your tag graphic should be filled with the oriental letters and have an outline of the original flood filled color in Step 1.

Step 6

Open up the pagoda psp image and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag graphic active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. Left click the mover tool and move the image centered on the tag.

Step 7

Open up your tube graphic and go to Edit/Copy.  Make your tag graphic active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer. If the image is too large, resize it as you did in Step 2.

Step 8

Add your copyright information and text and go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.  You can use the original color in Step 2 as your fill (bottom color box) and black as your stroke (top color box).  If you wish to apply a drop shadow to your text, you can use my favorite one from above or your own.

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

Step 9

Go to Layers/Duplicate.  Do this 12 times so you have a total of 13 layers.

Save your graphic as a psp or psd file.  We are now ready to go to animation shop.
