POETRY By Phil Wyatt |
DREAM I wandered through a dream one night, while my mind was far away. I saw a man sitting by a lake, as the gentle water swayed. I asked him why he looked so sad, and why he didn't smile. He replied he was a traveller, who had just walked his last mile. He had travelled everywhere, through snows and winds and rains, had walked through towns and cities, through village and country lanes. He had lied out in the sun, watched it set in every way, had seen a million beaches, with sands of white and grey. He had looked upon the stars, that blanketed the sky, had sat and watched each one, fade away and die. He had climbed up every mountain, had swum in every sea, had talked to every race of person, and every type of tree. And I told him there was one place, that he'd never travelled to, he just had to look inside himself, to know my words were true. And I left him by that lake, pondering what i'd said, and I hoped that he'd embark, upon the journey in his head. |
LOVE There's so much in my heart I need to let out. The way the sun shines on your skin. I wish I could strand myself in your bright eyes, there'll be no need to ever look out from within. Because of tonight, there is no tomorrow. I'll hold you now and make now forever. Only this moment means anything to me, A moment not even my dreams can sever. You mean everything to me, no less then that, an emotion like this could not be more true. This feeling inside keeps me feeling alive, there's so much in my heart - all because of you. |
YOU DON'T REMEMBER ME DO YOU? You don't remember when I used to try to catch your eyes. Hoping for your face just to glance briefly at me, Just so you knew I was there. You don't remember talking to me, telling me that I was not the one. Making me feel ashamed, humiliated, rejected. You don't remember seeing me, as I watched you with a heart so full. Watched you behind a crowd of admirers. You don't remember me do you? Well, I remember you. |
ANGEL You look so alive, Like pureness personified. Your face casts a shadow, on everything I ever looked upon before. The landscape only a portrait now, engrained with your beauty. The sea does not breathe, as it beats on your shore. |
SKY I shut myself away for far too long, Then I heard on the wind a bird in song. Carried to me from some distant shore, So far away, locked behind my door. And I heard its beauty so pure and true, feelings of love I never knew. This was when my heart sought your face, And I felt the desire to leave my place. Just like an angel, so soft and kind, I felt your gaze as I stepped outside. A soothing breeze that touched my skin, also touched me deep within. You took away what was never there, the emptiness that gave me my despair. And the sky came back upon my eyes, as I lifted my face to your breathless sighs. |
FUTILE Stranded, Solitude, And no one will come. Alive but lifeless, functioning but numb. Abandoned, Ignored, When nobody cares. Forsaken, Desolation, I feel from your stare. Stands out, Can't stand, Averting my gaze. Acknowledged but forgotten. I'll get out of the way. Accept my Denial, I can't find a friend. But speak out of your heart, If it's one you will lend. You'll feel my words, If you hear what I say. But not for the present, I've not spoken today. Stranded, Solitude, And no one has come. It's at times like this, When I wish I could run. |
