Hoppers
Updated 2/15/2007
Anthracite coal is the major product being shipped on the Wyoming Valley.  As a result, a fleet of hoppers is needed to serve this industry.  The Wyoming Valley will have five types of hoppers on the layout.  So far, only examples of three have been created and are shown below.
The panel-side hopper is my favorite type of all of the hoppers.  It is an Accurail kit and features only the road name and initials.
This hopper was probably never used for hauling coal.  The bracing on it doesn't look like it could stand up to the abuse of hauling coal.  But, I liked it since I could fit a large version of the Wyoming Valley logo on it.  I got the idea for placing only the logo after seeing pictures of B&O hoppers.  This is an Accurail kit of a Canton hopper.
This hopper is an Athearn peaked, offset hopper.  For this model, I was able to fit the road name, a small version of the Wyoming Valley logo, and the road initials.
