It was evening, and Jesus had fed over five thousand people, he had asked his disciples to get into the ship and go before him to the other side of the sea of Tiberius, while he sent the multitudes away. He then went up into a mountain alone to pray. Later that evening the disciples were in the ship, in the midst of the sea, and the ship, was being tossed about with the waves. Matthew 14:21-24 And in the evening the ship was in the midst of the sea, , and the ship was being tossed about by the waves, because the wind was [enantios] blowing against them, and Jesus was alone on the shore. And he saw the disciples [basanizo] trying hard to row; and at about 3 am in the morning, Jesus walked to the disciples upon the sea, and he would have passed by them, but the disciples saw him, and they thought they had seen a spirit, and they were frightened, and they cried out, It is a spirit. Because they all saw him, and they were [tarasso] disturbed. And straight away, Jesus talked to them, and he said, Be [tharseo] courageous; it is me; don't be frightened. And Peter answered Jesus and said, Lord, if it is you, ask me to come to you on the water. And Jesus said, Come, and when Peter got down out of the ship, he walked upon the water, to go to Jesus. But when Peter saw that the wind was [ischuros..strong] boisterous, he was frightened, and he began to sink, and he cried out, Jesus, save me. And straight away Jesus stretched out his hand, and he caught him, and he said to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt? And then Jesus got up into the ship with the disciples; and the wind stopped: and they were all [existamai..perissou] exceedingly astonished, and they [thaumazo] marvelled. Then the disciples came to Jesus, and they worshipped him, and they said, Truly, you are the Son of God.
