Page 2 As soon as Mary heard that, she quickly got up, and she went to Jesus. Now Jesus had not yet come into Bethany, but he was at the place where Martha met him. Then the Jews who were with Mary in the house, and who were comforting her, when they saw Mary quickly get up and go out, they followed her, and they said, She is going to the grave to cry there. Then when Mary got to the place where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, and she said to Jesus, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. When Jesus therefore saw Mary crying, and the Jews which came with her also crying, he groaned in his spirit and he was troubled. And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, come and see. Jesus cried. Then the Jews said, See how he loved him! And some of the Jews said, Couldn't this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have stopped this man from dying? Jesus therefore again groaning within himself came to the grave. It was a cave, and there was a stone laying upon it. And Jesus said, Take you away the stone. Martha, the sister of Lazarus who was dead, said to Jesus, [kurios..sir, Master, Lord] Master, by now he stinks: because he has been dead for four days. Jesus said to Martha, Didn't I say to you, that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God? Then they took the stone away from the cave in which Lazarus was laying. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and he said [pater..parent..father] Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I know that you always hear me: but because of the people who are standing by I said it, so that they will believe that you have sent me. And when Jesus had said that, he cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus, come [exo..without] outside. And Lazarus who had been dead came [exo..without] outside, and his hands and his feet were bound with [keiriai..bandages..graveclothes] bandages: and there was a [soudarion..handkerchief, napkin, towel] towel wrapped around his face. And Jesus said to them, untie him, and let him go. Then when many of the Jews which came to Mary, saw the things that Jesus did, believed on him. But some of the Jews went their ways to the Pharisees, and they told the Pharisees the things that Jesus had done.
