Exodus 16:20 When the manna (bread) was left overnight the bread swelled up, and flies landed on it and the flies vomited on the bread, and they ate some of the bread, and they laid their eggs on the bread, and when the eggs hatched, maggots appeared on the bread, and the maggots greedily started to eat the bread, and smelly vapours began to rise into the air from the swollen stinking bread. The atmosphere was hot and humid in the desert. The bread became swollen because it obtained moisture from the air. 14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small [chaspas..to peel, a (shred, scale), to be scaly, round thing.] round thing, as small as the [kephor..a cover, a covered goblet, a tankard, white frost, (as covering the ground), (hoar, hoary) frost, bason.] hoar frost on the ground. 15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is [man..a sweet (gum, resin), manna.] manna: for they wist not what it was.
