Prayers for the dead!
Q. Should we be praying for the dead?
In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, in the book of Proverbs, it is written that a person who follows righteousness will never die.
28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death. Proverbs 12:28
In the New Testatment of the Holy Bible, in the book of John, Jesus Christ said that righteous (persons) who keep Gods words [Jesus Christ spoke Gods words..John 12:49,50] never die.
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. John 8:51
Righteous persons do not die, righteous persons spirits are taken out of their earthly bodies and placed into new heavenly bodies, and those new persons are taken to heaven by Jesus Christ.
14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. Psalm 49:15
A. Righteous persons who are living in eternal bliss in heaven, do not need people on earth to pray for them.
When a wicked person dies that person will never live again, that person is dead, FOREVER, and that person has been forgotten!
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. Job 14:12
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. Psalm 34:16
Wicked dead persons are silent in the grave.
17 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. Psalm 31:17
A. The wicked are dead forever, the wicked dead have been forgotten, the wicked dead do not need any prayers.
Prayers for the dead.
Those dead persons who are in desperate need of prayers, are the living, spiritually blind, and spiritually dead members of the world upon this earth. Those persons are in sheol the unseen state, and they are suffering tremendously in the hands of their captors, the unseen kingdom of devils, who are living, and walking amonst us, upon the face of this earth!
Note: There are two resurrections taking place upon this earth,
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2
one is the resurrection of the just,
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. John 5:25
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:15,26
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24
and the other is, the resurrection of the damned.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. John 5:25
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
