John, the apostle who knew the high priest, records that Jesus Christ was taken from the garden of Gethsemane, to the palace of the high priest, where he was then tried by the council. John was in the palace at the time of the trial. John knew the high priest, and John obtained permission to take Peter into the palace of the high priest.
