Air (atmis..which is vapour. See ruach & vapour Youngs Analytical Concordance to the bible.) has weight and presses down upon the earth.

The weather upon the earth can be determined by measuring the pressure of the air. The pressure of the air is measured with a barometer.

Air pressure is measured in millibars. A millibar is a unit of atmospheric pressure. Millibars are used to measure the pressure of the air upon the earth.

The normal pressure of the air upon the earth is 1000 millibars. When the pressure of the air is above 1000 millibars, air pressure is high, when the pressure of the air is below 1000 millibars air pressure is low.

An area of low pressure is called a cyclone. Low pressure areas bring wet weather.

Areas of high pressure are called anticyclones. High pressure areas bring good, settled weather.
