Fur, Feathers, and Scales

This packet designed by the Fort Wayne Zoo for 1st grade classes is applicable for any zoo.  It includes activities for pre-, during, and post- trips to the zoo, as well as background information about the animals, songs and games.  The packet requires Adobe Acrobat Reader and may be easier to use if printed out.  There is also a activity packet that is geared to pre-k classes that can be found at  Walkers and Wrigglers.

Animal of the Month

Each month the Oakland Zoo portrays an animal of the month with a fact sheet, diet, habitat, lifestyle, social facts, large picture and more.  There is also archive to past animals of the month.  This site is useful for teachers and all elementary grades.

 Animal Planet Live

Animal planet TV includes live video cams for a variety of animals in their natural habitat, a fun and games section, exploring animals by subject. This site is useful for teachers as well as all elementary students.

Minnesota Zoo

Take a virtual tour through the Minnesota Zoo and see the animals included on each of five different trails to follow.  Learn about each animal's habitat, diet, adaptations, and description.  Includes pictures.

Zoo Safari

An animated site that gives information on the different parts of the animal by pointing to the body part. This site is geared toward preschool through 2nd grade students.
