A control rat (Spargue-Dawley outbred) from our data performing the discovered pattern. The dark blue circle represents the rat and the light blue arc represents the arena wall. Each point in the path represents 1/30 second, so the whole sequence includes 2 seconds of behavior. The points highlighted  in red are those belonging to the pattern. On the left side you see an animation of the actual movement, while the graph on the right shows speed as function of time in the same data. Note the charecteristics of the pattern: it is peformed near the wall, braking hard while turning slightly away from it. The heavy braking can be seen as a very negative slope in th speed profile.
		Note: For some reason publishing these animations on the web tends to degrade their quality. However, you can easily download these animations and play them in your own computer. To download an animation, right-click on it, choose "Save image as..." and save to any folder in your computer. This file is a GIF file.To play it, just open it with any browser (like Internet Explorer - right-click the file and choose "open with..." -> "choose program..." -> "Internet Explorer"), with most graphic viewer (I recommend Irfan Viewer, a very popular freeware.
