Soprano Natalie Gunn is an exceptional young talent from the Pacific Northwest. Her clear, beautiful voice and intelligent artistry bring colorful interpretations to concert and opera stages throughout the region. Natalie has been featured by many leading companies, such as the Carmel Bach Festival, Portland Baroque Orchestra, the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, The Oregon Mozart Players, Northwest Performing Arts, Portland SummerFest, the Olympia Symphony, and Portland Opera. She especially loves to sing music by Handel, Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Britten and Richard Strauss. Her roles include Adina in The Elixir of Love, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Polly in The Beggar's Opera.
Natalie
studied voice with the legendary Ellen Faull, and works with Sheri Greenawald,
Richard Bower, and Dean Williamson. Natalie began 2009 with an Encouragement
Award from the Gerda Lissner Foundation. 2008 was also a successful year with
wins at the National Opera Association's Artists Competition, NATS Artist
Award for the Northwest Region, and the coveted Adams Fellowship at the Carmel
Bach Festival. Other honors include the Classical Singer Convention Young
Artist Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
She holds a Master of Music degree from Portland State University where she
studied under Ruth Dobson, and was honored to work with Marilyn Horne, Sherrill
Milnes, and Tito Capobianco. Natalie was privileged to travel Europe with
the Internationale Bachakademie under Maestro Helmuth Rilling. A native of
the Portland area, Natalie enjoys the great outdoors, good wine, and traveling.

The Oregonian May 6th, 2003. James McQuillen wrote:
"...Most notably Natalie Gunn as Zerlina; she was a natural on stage,
her warmth and easy grace a match for her supple, flexible voice."
--
The Oregonian May 3rd, 2004. David Stabler wrote:
"Natalie Gunn's Adele sparkled with the dazzling agility a chambermaid
needs to stay in the game."
--
The Register Guard December 12th, 2007. Marilyn Farwell wrote:
"The final work was the largest and most challenging: J.S. Bach's Wedding
Cantata #210. Written for soprano soloist and orchestra, it contains five
recitatives and five arias. It is as demanding as most operatic music of the
time, which means florid passages, dramatic recitatives and spun out legato
lines.
Natalie Gunn, a young soprano
from Portland, seemed undaunted. She had an animated stage presence and a
clear, direct vocal sound with some steel around the edges."
