| Trying ... We want to have our children closer together than farther apart, so we decided to start trying "early" because it took so long to get Ella. Well, it didn't take too long - only 2 months! |
We're Pregnant! ... I charted my cycle this month to see if everything was normal due to breastfeeding Ella. When I saw my temperature take a dip around what could be implantation and then go up again the next day, I was curious and took a home pregnancy test. The result was a *very* faint line. So faint I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I can't stress how faint the line was. I could really only see it if I help it up against something white and then I only saw a "shadow" of a line. I showed Tom and he saw it too. So the inkling that I could be pregnant was planted in my mind and I decided to test again in the morning. That night, I was so excited I woke up like 5 times during the night hoping it was late enough. At 5:45am, I thought I had waited long enough and tested. A definite positive second line appeared. Light still, but over the next couple of days, I continued to test to ensure that line got darker. It did! |
Telling Tom, our parents and everyone else ... This time, I wanted to tell Tom in a special way - something different than just blurting it out over the cell phone. I had purchased a book earlier for when the time came to give to Tom. It was titled, "I'm a Big Sister" and I had plans of giving it to him and telling him it was for him to read to Ella. Well, here it was, 5:45am and I had to tell him. So I flipped on the light and thrust the book into his hands. After a few moments of sleep induced confusion, he sat up and said "Are you pregnant?" "Yes." "That's awesome!" and he gave me a kiss and promptly went back to sleep! We told our parents by giving them an invitation to a "meet and greet" scheduled for 'on or around august 23rd, 2005'. It was great to tell them the news that way. To watch them realize what it was and to see their excitement first hand. And of course, we told everyone else too. We're not ones to wait out the first trimester. We're pregnant now, and we want to share our joy! |
Birth Story! ... Allison Ann Leisher was born on Thursday, Aug 18th @ 10:17pm. She weighed 8lbs8ozs and was 20.5" long. (originally stated as 20", but a week later she was 21.2" long, so doc says she was most likely 20.5" at birth) longer version: 3pm - checked into hospital and got me all setup and started watching contrax. 5pm - Doctor broke my water. It was meconium stained - thank goodness I went in! I was 3cm. 515pm - got epidural. heaven! 7pm - I was at 6cms but starting to feel pain on left side. 730pm - Got a 2nd epidural to rectify pain situation. Was at 7cms 9ish pm - In lots of pain very down below. Seems I wasn't dilated all the way yet, but baby was in +2 station and was pushing down hard. I had to breathe through each contraction. It was very very very bad. 10pm - ready to push! 1015pm - I actually got up the nerve to touch the crowning head! weird. 1017pm - Allison Ann Leisher came into the world as perfect as can be. I had no tearing, nor an episiotomy. Besides the immense pain at the end, it was all worth it. I didn't have any tears or an episiotomy, so my recovery is going fast. I did have the most massive cramps for the first few days. Way worse than what I did with ella. Nurses told me it's worse with the second+, so something to look forward to for the next one! |
