Chapter 11 L&B studios. Chloe & Elizabeth are in the main room working on a new color concept for her newest line, when Alexis walks. Alexis: Good morning all. Chloe: Well aren't we in a good mood. I take it you and Ned made up. Elizabeth: By the look of things several times. (they laugh) Alexis: Let's just say we didn't get much sleep last night and leave it at that. Chloe:So did you guys spend the night at your new house? Alexis:Yes. I'm so glad Ned had the good sense to by a bed. Elizabeth: Well as long as you have a bed everything else is secondary. Chloe: Isn't that the truth. (They laugh as Jax walks in) Jax: What's so funny! Alexis: Girl stuff. Jax: Oh. Where's Ned? Chloe: He's not here he had a meeting this morning with a guy about computer updating. Alexis: Why are you looking for Ned? Jax:Well we were suppose to have a business lunch later today and I need to cancel it. Alexis: Well I'm sure Ned will be deeply hurt. Jax: Some how I doubt that. It will probably just give him another excuse to take you away from the hell we call work. Alexis: I wasn't under the impression you worked! (her cell phone rings) Alexis Davis. What? When Is he alright? I'll be right there. Jax: Alexis what is it? Alexis: It's Ned he's been in a terrible car crash. Jax: Come on I'll drive you to the hospital. Scene II Jax, Chloe, and Alexis arrive at General Hospitals Emergency room. Alexis sees Monica and runs over to her. Alexis: Monica how is he? Where is he? Monica: He's in surgery. (Alexis falls back and Jax catches her) Alexis I'm going to give it to you straight. Ned lost allot of blood when his head hit the steering wheel. He also has some internal bleeding which the doctors need to stop. Well know more after the operation. Alexis the best thing you can do for Ned right now is pray. I need to go. Jax: Thank you Monica. Come on Alexis let's go sit down. Chloe why don't you go down to the cafeteria and get some water. Chloe: Ok. Alexis don't worry he's strong he's going to be fine. Alexis: Jax I can't lose him not now. Jax: You're not going to lose him he loves you and more importantly he knows you love him. It's the magic of love that's going to pull him through this. Alexis: Oh my God you sound just like him. He used the whole concept of love is the strength of everything between us and that love is what will guide us, to get me to reconsider marring him. Jax: Reconsider? Alexis: Yes Ned didn't tell you I called off the engagement? Jax: No he just said that the two of you got into as fight and it had something to do with Stefan. Why'd you call it off? Alexis: I was scared of losing him because of our families and now I might lose him anyway. Did I tell you he wants us to have a baby? Jax: No. Alexis: Well he did just yesterday. I told him I wasn't ready to become a Mother but that I'd think about it. Jax: You'd make a wonderful Mother Alexis. Alexis: Thanks I'm not so sure.......... but thanks anyway. Jax: Alexis he's going to pull through this you just have to keep telling yourself that. Alexis: I'll try. (she places her head on his shoulder and begins to cry) Scene III It's been hours and nobodies heard anything. Jax told Alexis that he'd try to find out what's going on. Alexis wanted to be alone so Chloe went back to L&B to check on things. Edward comes running into the hospital. Edward:(yelling) Where's my grandson? (he see's Alexis) What have you done to him this time? If I find out this had anything to do with your family, I promise you, you will pay for this. (Monica hears him clear across the other end of the hospital and runs over) Monica: Edward you need to calm down. This isn't Alexis's fault. Alexis wasn't even with Ned when they brought him in. He was in a car accident. Edward: I know that, but it's still her fault. Monica: if you keep screaming like that you're going to end up having another heart attack. DR. John Morse and Jax are walking down the hall. Alexis: Doctor how's Ned. Edward: You don't need to answer to her she's not family. Monica: Edward! Dr. Morse: I take it your Alexis. Ned's fiancée? Edward: Which simply means she's not family. Jax:: Edward put a sock in it. Alexis: Please tell me Ned's going to be ok. When can I see him. Edward: You're not going anywhere near my grandson. You've already caused enough trouble. Monica: Edward another word out of you and I'll have you removed. Please John tell us how Ned is. Dr. Morse: We've managed to stop the internal bleeding. According to his CAT scan he doesn't seem to have any brain damage, but we won't know for sure until he wakes up. Alexis: Wakes up? Well when will that be. Dr. Morse: There's no way of telling, he's unconscious at the moment. The best thing you can do for him now is will him awake. Tell him how much you love him and need him to wake up. Alexis: Thank you Doctor I will. Can I see him now. Edward: If anyone is going to see him it's going to be me. Dr. Morse: (Ignoring Edward) Yes he can have visitors but only for short periods at a time. Jax walks Alexis over to his room in ICU while Monica takes care of Edward. Alexis:Jax I don't know if I can do this. Jax: Yes you can just remember what the doctor said. Tell Ned how much you love him and need him. Alexis shakes her head and walks into his room. He looks so lifeless. He has tubes running everyone a full bandage covering his head. She walks over to him and kisses his forehead, as her tears fall on his face. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 12 Ned's hospital room. Alexis is sitting on the chair holding Ned's hand, her head resting against his chest. She's been sitting there in silence listening to his heart beat slowly for the last ten minutes. To her it's the only sign that he's still alive, as her tears continual fall from her face. She can't bare to pick up her head, but somehow manages to finally speak...... Alexis: Ned.......... Ned, sweetheart I need you to open your eyes. I need you to wake up and tell me everything's going to be alright. Your the only one who could ever get me to believe that no matter what...........there's always hope. I would never have survived these past few years without your words of encouragement. I thought my world was over when Stefan banished me from my home and his heart. You held my hand and made it possible for me to hold my head up high. You told me that you'd always be there for me, if I ever needed you. (raising her voice and picking up her head) So now I'm telling you I need you...........damn it Ned I need you NOW more then I've ever needed you before! We've come to damn far to lose everything now. all of a sudden the monitors go crazy and Ned flat lines. Alexis raises to her feet as the doctors come in with all different kinds of machines. Alexis is to overwhelmed to even move, so Amy grabs her arm and pulls her outside. Jax comes running over to them just in time to catch Alexis as she faint. Scene II Jax is sitting in a chair next to Alexis's bed watching her sleep, as Chloe walks in..... Chloe: How's she doing? Jax: Fine she hasn't moved at all. Monica just thinks she went into shock and that's why she faint. Chloe: This has got to be so hard on her. She doesn't know yet does she? Jax: No and I don't know how I'm going to tell her. (tears forming in his eyes) Ned means everything to her Chloe and I know what it's like to lose someone you love more then life it's self.... (he gets up and walks her over to the door) I, m sorry. Chloe: For what? Jax: Mentioning Brenda. Chloe: Jax you loved Brenda I know that and seeing what Alexis is going through............well how could that not make you think about Brenda. You have nothing to be sorry for. Jax: How am I suppose to tell her? Chloe: Jax you don't have to take that responsibility on yourself..........maybe it would be better if you let the doctors tell her. Jax: No! I'd rather she heard it from me then some cold heart doctor.......whose got more important things to worry about then a persons feelings. Chloe:Jax you know that's not true........The doctors at GH are very sensitive to the families needs. Jax: (walking back over and sitting down next to Alexis) I knew you right I just need to be the one to tell her. Scene III PCPD Mac is in his office when Dara walks in with a file. Mac: Is that Ashton' accident report. Dara: Yes.........but it wasn't an accident. Mac: What? Dara: According to the report the brakes on Ned Ashtons car were deliberately cut. Somebody wanted him dead. Mac: Who? The only enemies a man like Ashton has is his own family. Do you think one of them did it? Dara: Mac you can't be serious! Mac: (picking up the phone) Dead serious. (talking into the phone) Bring me Alan Quatermaine JR. Dara: Mac you don't think AJ cut Ned's brakes, do ya? Mac: Why not he hates Ned and has always blamed him for everything. How many times have you heard AJ say ELQ is his birth right. Dara: But Edward made him CEO and kicked Ned out. Mac: Yea but AJ' know longer running ELQ. Dara I know it's a stretch but what if during one of AJ' drinking spills he finally decided top get revenge on Ned. Just like the warehouse fire. Dara: Mac you have no proof AJ was involved in that. Mac: Maybe not, but right now he is our number one suspect. Will question him and then take things from there. Scene IV Quatermanie Mansion. Lila and Emily are in the living room eating lunch when Edward walks in. Lila: Edward what is it? What's troubling you? Edward: Lila there's been an accident. Emily: Oh know AJ didn't hurt anyone did he. Edward: No, this has nothing to do with AJ. Lila: Oh thank god. I worry about him so. Edward: I know you do Lila and for that I will never forgive him. Emily: Grandfather what accident? Edward: It's Ned.......he was in a car accident. Lila: is he alright? Edward: I don't know, when I left the hospital he was still unconscious Emily: How'd it happen? Edward: I don't know. Your Mother threw me out before I had a chance to find anything out. Lila: Oh Edward what did you do? Edward: I didn't do anything! Emily: Grandfather you must have said something. Edward: Only that I don't want that Cassidine woman anywhere near my Grandson. Emily: Grandfather Ned loves Alexis and weather you like it or not they are getting married. Reginald: (walking in) Lieutenant Taggert is here. Edward: What the devil does he want? Emily: Maybe it has something to do with Ned's accident. Edward: Fine send him in. (he walks in) Well do you know what caused my Grandsons accident? Taggert: It's still under investigation. I was looking for AJ. Edward: What do you want with him? Taggert: Just want to ask him some questions. (just then AJ walks in) AJ: What's going on here? Edward: The lieutenant here is looking for you. AJ: Why? Edward: That's what we all want to know. Taggert: I just want to ask you a couple of questions that's all. (noticing the uncomfortable tone in the room) Would you rather we go downtown? Edward: What ever you have to say lieutenant......... just say it. AJ: Yes let's go. What ever you need to talk to me about my Grandfather doesn't need to know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 13 General Hospital Alexis opens her eyes and see Jax asleep in the chair. She sits up and feels like total crap. She starts to get out of bed but then suddenly feels dizzy and sits back down. Just then Jax wakes up. Jax: Welcome back, are you okay? Alexis: Yea I'm just a little dizzy that's all. What happened? Jax: You fainted, but don't worry Monica said something about it being your bodies way of shutting down from all the stress in your life. Alexis: Oh man I feel like.............(suddenly realizing why she was at GH on the first place) Ned! Jax where's Ned. (getting up) I need to see him. Jax: (grabbing her and forcing her to sit down) Alexis there's something I need to tell you. I need you to brace yourself. Alexis: Jax he flat lined, I saw it! (she could barely speak through her tears) He's dead isn't he! Jax: NO! NO Alexis he's not dead. I promise you he's not dead. I just checked in on him about 5 minutes ago and he was fine. Alexis: Then what happened why do I need to brace myself. Jax: Alexis, Ned has gone into a coma. Alexis: No god no! (she crash her head into his chest and cries uncontrollable) Scene II Monica walks in and see Jax comforting Alexis. Monica: Alexis how are you feeling? Alexis: Is Ned going to make it through this? Monica: Why don't we talk about you first then will talk about Ned. Jax: She got dizzy again. Alexis: I'm fine really, I just need to be with Ned. Monica: Alexis why don't you let me run a couple of routine test on you first? Alexis: (getting up) Monica really I'm fine I just want to be with Ned. I promise if I don't feel better later I'll come see you. Alexis walks past Monica and heads towards Ned's room. Monica: Jax I want you to keep a good eye on her. I don't like the fact that she's getting dizzy. Jax: I will Monica, and if I notice anything I'll make sure she see a doctor. Monica: Good! Scene II Alexis is standing over Ned, she doesn't understand why this is happening. Alexis: (crying) Hey there you know it's been way to long since I saw those brown eyes of yours. Monica's on my case because she doesn't think I'm taking care of myself. ..........I don't know if you can hear me or not but I sure hope you can. (Chloe walks but Alexis doesn't notice her) I was just trying to think about what Bali looks like this time of year. Maybe we could go there on our honeymoon, unless of course knowing you..........you've already have something else in mind. (She starts to cry uncontrollable) Chloe: Alexis why don't you go and get something to eat I'll stay with Ned. Alexis: I'm not hungry, but thank you. Chloe; You need to eat. Alexis:I'll be fine. Chloe: Alexis..... Alexis: (yelling) I'm not leaving!................ I'm sorry Chloe it's just..... Chloe: I know. But if you won't go and get something to eat then at least let me bring you something. Alexis: really I'm fine, I couldn't eat anything if I tried............ Look at him he looks so.........lifeless. I don't know what I'm going to do if he........ Chloe; Hey don't think about that, he's going to come back to you. Alexis: I hope so! (she rubs the side of his face) Did I ever tell you about the first time he asked me to go away with him? Chloe: No. Alexis: All he wanted was for the two of us to just leave our family and take off to parts unknown. I don't even know if he had a plan, he just wanted me to run away with him. Chloe; Why didn't you go? Alexis: My family, they needed me. Heck they always need me but only when it's convent for them........I wanted to go with him so bad but I never let on.......... When I think about how different things would be if only I went with him when he asked, if I would have trusted him more. We broke up twice and I never thought we'd ever get this far. Chloe: You broke up, I never even knew you guys fought. What happened? Alexis: My family happened, but times we broke up it was because of my family. You see neither Stefan nor Helena wanted me to be with Ned. Stefan said he was nothing but a lying Quatermaine, while Helena........... well Helena just doesn't want to see me happy at anyone cost. Chloe; But you guys got back together. Alexis: Yes, stronger then ever. I promised myself I was never going to allow my family to destroy us again. Chloe: And you won't. Alexis: But you see I did. Chloe: I don't understand, how? Alexis: I told Ned I couldn't marry him, because of both of our families. Chloe: You're still wearing his ring. Alexis: That's because Ned convinced me that our families didn't matter as long as we loved each other. I do love him Chloe more then life it's self. Chloe: I know you do and he loves you too, that's why before you know it he is going to open those eyes of his and tell......... Alexis: That I talk to much. (they laugh) I hope he wakes up soon. Chloe; Alexis you don't look to good, you're kinda pale looking. Why don't you go and get something to eat, please. Ned needs you to be strong. Alexis: I guess your right, I don't feel very well, maybe some food will help. Scene III Alexis is down in the cafeteria, she's picking at the food in front of her. Bobbie walks over and sits down besides her. Bobbie: Mind if I join you? Alexis: No, I'd like some company. Bobbie; good because I wasn't going away. Alexis: Bobbie, can Ned hear me when I speak to him? Bobbie: They haven't been able to prove it one way or another, but between you and I patience who are spoken to seem to respond better. Alexis: Why won't he wake up? Bobbie; That I don't know! But he will you just hang in there! Alexis:I will Bobbie: Alexis you look tried why don't you go home and get some sleep? Ned isn't going to wake up tonight. I promise someone will call you if his condition changes. Jax: (walking in) That's just what I was thinking. Come on I'll drive you home. Alexis: I'm not leaving him. Jax: Alexis you need to go home and get some rest, it's been a long hard day. Alexis: Jax..... Jax: What do you think Ned is going to say to me when he wakes up and see that I've let you walk around looking half dead. Please let me take you home, it will be morning before you know it. Alexis: You'll call if anything changes? Bobbie: Yes Alexis: and you'll bring me back first thing in the morning? Jax: Yes. Alexis agrees to allow Jax to drive her home. Scene IV Jax and Alexis are in the car on the way to the PC Hotel. Alexis: Jax I want to go to the house. Jax: Alexis why don't you stay at the suite tonight. Your furniture won't be delivered till tomorrow. Alexis: Please Jax take me to the house. Jax: Fine but first we're stopping at the hotel so you we shower and get a change of clothes. Alexis: We? Jax: Well you don't honestly think I'm going to let you spend the night out there by yourself. Alexis: Jax I'll be fine, besides like you said I have no furniture. Jax: That's okay I'll sleep on the floor. Alexis: Jax you don't have to do that. Jax: I want to.......... don't argue with me Alexis I'm not leaving you alone, especially with no one around for miles. What ever possessed Ashton to buy a house way out in no mans land anyway? Alexis: To keep you out! Jax: Ha Ha funny. It's nice to see you smile again. Alexis: Thanks I needed that! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 14 It's been about two weeks and Ned is still in a coma. Alexis has fully moved her and Ned into their new house. As the days go by Jax & Chloe can't help but worry about Alexis, she's not eating right and refuses to give up on Ned or L&B. Alexis still hasn't been feeling well but so far refuses to see a doctor. The more time she spends with Ned the weaker she seems to become in both sprit and body! L&B Studios. Chloe walks in to find Alexis half a sleep on the couch going over some papers! Chloe: Alexis, have you been here all night? Alexis:No. I only got here a few hours ago. (getting up) Have you seen the contracts for the new distribution deal? Chloe: They're in your hand! (Alexis rolls her eyes) Alexis you really need to get some sleep. I'll take care of things here, why don't you go home? Alexis: Home............Now there's an interesting concept. Do you know the last of the furniture arrived yesterday? Ned and I were suppose to pick it all out together............and then.........then when our house was finally done........we were going to start planning our wedding.(the tears forming in her eyes like snow slowly melting after the last frost) A wedding that will probably never happen..... Chloe:(putting her arms around her) You and Ned are going to get married. Ned is going to wake up. Alexis: (yelling) It's been weeks Chloe if he was going to wake up he would have done so by now. There hasn't been a change in his condition since he's gone into that damn coma! Why the hell won't he wake up? Chloe; He will Alexis you just have to believe. Alexis: I've tried.......I've tried so hard but I just can't do it anymore. (now crying uncontrollable) I sit with him everyday for hours on end and tell him how much I need him........how much I love him..........how I'd give anything if he'd just wake up. I sit here and make sure that when he wakes up he has a future company to run. I can't let this place fall, I just can't...........I feel like I've lost my mind! I need to get out here and be with him. (she picks up her things and runs out the front door before Chloe can stop her) Scene II PCPD Dara: (trying to catch Mac in the hall) Mac, Got a minute. Mac: What is it, I'm late for a meeting? Dara: We got some new information regarding Ned Ashton' accident. Mac: I thought we ruled it out as an accident. I'm still not sure after talking to AJ that he had nothing to do with it. Dara: (handing him a folder) I know but you need to look at this. Mac: What is it? Dara:Just read it. Mac: (looking over it & not to surprised at his findings) He can identify her without a doubt. Dara; Yes. Mac: Fine put out an APB on her. I want her found and put behind bars. This time however you better be damn sure because I refuse to be made to look like a fool again! That family has caused this department nothing but time and embarrassment, for way to long. Scene III Ned's hospital room. Monica is checking in on him as Alexis walks in. Alexis: Are there any changes? Monica: No, I'm sorry! Alexis:He should have woken up by now! You've said so yourself. (Monica looks shocked) I over heard you and Jax talking yesterday. You told him that things didn't look good, and the longer he stayed like this, the less of a chance he'll ever wake up! Monica: Alexis I'm so sorry. Alexis: Can you just leave us alone..........please. Monica: I'll go but if you need anything I'll just be in my office. Monica leaves and Alexis walks over to Ned and sits down. She holds his hand in hers and quietly talks to him. Alexis: Hey there big guy, I know you can hear me and I'm really starting to get pissed off at you for not answering me. The house is fully furnished and I had all our stuff moved in last week, all it needs now is you. When I don't get a chance to spend the night here with you I spend it in our room.............I wear that buttoned down blue shirt of yours to bed every night. Some how it makes me feel closer to you and it gives me hope when nothing else can. (there's a moment of silence before she speaks again) You know Ned Ashton I need you to wake up so we can start that family you've been talking about. That night.........(she takes a deep breath & tries so hard not to cry) the last night we spent together and I told you I wasn't ready to become a mother (she can't help herself and begins to cry) well I've changed my mind and if you wake up I promise you............as soon as you're up to it.............will start that family. Will have as many kids as you want......Oh, speaking of kids Brooke-Lynn drew you this picture. (she pulls it out of her briefcase) She made me promise to tell you that she loves you and to put it somewhere that when you wake up it's the first thing you see.(she gets up and walks over to the door) So I'm going to tape it right here on the back of this door, okay? (she walks back over to Ned and places her head on his chest) Now all you need to do is wake up and everything will be perfect. I love you so much! (she closes her eyes and before long is fast a sleep) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 15 Ned & Alexis house. Alexis is sitting in the living room staring hopelessly out their bay front window. When someone quietly walks behind her and puts their hand on her shoulder. Alexis is shocked and jumps quickly her mind is telling her its Ned, but when she turns her face suddenly becomes pale at the sight of Helena. Helena: well my darling dear your not looking well, aren't you happy to see me? Alexis:(getting up and walking to the other side of the room) What are you doing here? Helena: I came to pay my respect......... Yes I know your Mr. Ashton isn't quite dead yet but still...... Alexis:(yelling) Ned is going to be fine! Now what do you want? Helena: I just wanted to make sure you got my message loud and clear! Alexis: (almost scared to ask) What message is that? Helena: Those blummbling fools they can't do anything right and yet they call them self Police officers. Alexis; What are you rambling about? Helena: (laughing) Mr Ashtons car accident. I never would have thought in a million years that they would have accused Ned's own cousin of cutting the brakes on his car! Alexis: (shocked) Cutting the brakes? Helena: Why yes didn't anyone tell you that Ned's accident was no accident? I figured at least your ex-husband would have told you. Alexis; Jax..........Jax knew about this....(Helena just smiles her evil smile) You cut those brakes didn't you? Helena: like I said before I just came here to make sure you got my message! Now that I've seen you have I will go. Please do give Ned my love. (laughing as she leaves) Alexis is in total shock and can't believe everyone knew about this except her. She watches Helena pull out the driveway before she grabs her keys and runs out the door. Scene II Three hours later Alexis is banging on Jax's Penthouse door. Jax; (hollering from inside) I'm coming hold your horse's! (he opens the door and Alexis storms through) Alexis what is it? Did something happen to Ned? Alexis; I've been driving around for the last three hours trying to figure out why......why..... Jax: Why what? Alexis you need to calm down! Alexis: (yelling) Calm down, you want me to calm down! The man that I love is lying in a hospital bed dying because someone tried to kill him and nobody even bothered to tell me, but yet you want me to calm down!(yelling even louder) Well I'll tell you Jax this is about as calm as I'm going to get! Why the hell didn't you............you out of all people tell me? Jax: Alexis I didn't want you to worry, you already had to much too deal with............ How'd you find out? Alexis: Helena, she came by the house and wanted to make sure I got her message. She was extremely happy that I was unaware of the details and was all to willing to fill me in! Jax: She didn't hurt you did she? Alexis: No, only with her words! Jax: I take it she's behind this then? Alexis: well she didn't came right out and say it, but she made damn sure I knew! (yelling) I trusted you to be honest with me and you never said a word..........you knew and you didn't even tell me! How am I ever suppose to trust you again? Jax: Alexis please I didn't do it to hurt you. Alexis: (still yelling) Well that's exactly what you did! You keep the truth from me.......oh oh (Alexis screams in pain as she holds her stomach and falls to the floor) Jax: Alexis, Alexis are you okay? (he grabs her and holds her) I'm calling an ambulance and taking you to the hospital, no arguments! Jax picks up his cell phone and calls 911 before calling Monica. It seems like hours before the ambulance finally arrives, Jax holds Alexis' hand and tries his hardest to reassure her. Scene III Emergency room at General hospital. Monica comes running over as the paramedics bring Alexis in. Monica; Alexis it's going to be okay. Just lay back and try and calm down. Jax: I don't know what happen. One minute she was yelling at me and the next thing I knew she doubled over in pain. Monica: Put her in exam room one. Jax I'm going to run some test on her and then let you know what's going on, stay here. A few minutes later Monica comes out. Monica;Jax did you know Alexis was pregnant? Jax: (freaking) What? Are you sure? Is she going to be alright? Oh no........ did she lose the baby? Monica: Alexis is far enough along that we were able to save the baby. Jax if you didn't get her here when you did the baby wouldn't of had a chance. Jax: How far along is she? Monica: She's well into her second trimester. I don't think she's even aware that she pregnant? Jax: How is that possible? Monica: All the stress in her life right now she pushed the thought right out of her head. It's not uncommon, woman have gone further along then Alexis without even knowing. Jax: Wow.......Can I see her? Monica: Yes, but she's sleeping and I'd like her to stay that way. So please make it brief. Jax: When are you going to tell her about the baby? Monica: After she wakes up. Jax: Monica I'd like to be there when you tell her! Monica: Okay! I have rounds to do why don't you sit with her a spell, and don't worry Jax she'll be fine. Jax: Thanks. Scene IV Alexis's hospital room. Jax:( seeing Alexis stir) Hey there sleeping beauty how are you feeling? Alexis: I think I'm having a bad nightmare or this is just becoming all too common. Jax; Are you feeling any better? Alexis: Yes what happened? Monica: (walking in) I think you just like to scare us that's all. How are you feeling? Alexis; Much better, thank you! Monica: Alexis something showed up in your test that I'd like to talk to you about. Before I do however Jax has asked if he can stick around, it's solely up to you. Alexis: That's fine. What is it? Do you know why I doubled over in pain like that? Monica: Yes I do, you were starting to miscarry..... Alexis: (Shocked) Miscarry? Monica: Yes........ Alexis your pregnant and approximently 18 to 20 weeks along. Alexis: (overwhelmed) I'm going to have a baby? I can't believe it, Jax isn't this wonderful? Jax: (hugging her) You bet, it's the best news I've heard in weeks. Alexis: (her facial expression changing) Wait you said miscarry.... Monica: Alexis both you and the baby are fine, and I'd like to keep it that way. You need to start eating better and get more rest. This was your bodies way of telling you it doesn't like the way you've been treating it. Alexis: Oh my god Ned I need to tell Ned. If this doesn't wake him up nothing will. (she starts to get out of bed) Monica; Hold on a minute you need to stay in bed. You can tell Ned tomorrow I promise. Alexis: But I need... Monica: What you need is rest, Ned isn't going anywhere, besides you said you were going to take better care of yourself and this is your first test. Alexis: Okay Monica: I'll check in on you later, come on Jax why don't we let the patience get some rest. By the way congratulations. Jax: (kissing her on the forehead) I'll be back later as well, you get some sleep. They leave as Alexis places her hands on her stomach and smiles at the thought of giving Ned the one thing he wanted most in life, a baby, their baby! She now knew that everything was going to work out, as she falls fast a sleep and dreams the best dream she's ever dreamt since this nightmare began. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 16 Alexis Hospital Room. Alexis is impatiently waiting for Monica to come back and check her out so she can tell Ned the good news. She so nervous about telling him but still can't wait. She's convinced that this baby is a sign and that it's just what Ned needs to bring him around. Alexis is deep in thought about how she's going to tell him that she doesn't even hear Monica come in. Monica: Well hello there, how are you feeling this morning? Alexis: (impatiently) I want to see Ned........how is he? Monica: (looking at her chart making sure there were no major changes over night) I'm sorry Alexis but there hasn't been any change in his condition. Alexis: (smiling) This baby is going to change everything.........you wait and see. Monica: Well I hope your right..... Alexis: I know I am. Can I see him now. Monica: Well everything looks good here so I see no reason to keep you any longer...... Alexis: Thank you so much. (Alexis jumps out of bed) Monica: Wait..... you need to take care of your self. Remember this baby depends on you and solely on you. It eats what you eat. It takes in what you take in. And most importantly it feels the stress that you feel. Alexis: Trust me Monica now that I know I'm pregnant with Ned's baby, I'm going to take better care of myself. Alexis quickly gets dressed and literally runs down the hall to see Ned. Scene II Ned's hospital room. Bobbie is checking his IV's and monitoring him when Alexis comes running in. Alexis: Ned...... Ned I need to tell you something! Bobbie: Hey there you need to calm down. (looking worried) Is everything alright? Alexis: Yes, it's better then ever. (taking a deep breath) How is he? Bobbie: He's holding his own. Which is a good thing. I'll see you later. Alexis: Thanks Bobbie. Alexis waits for Bobbie to leave before talking to Ned. Alexis:(smiling and taking his hand) Honey you'll never guess what's been happening since you've been a sleep. I found out something that I know is going to make your day. It's something that you told me you wanted just before this accident...........Yes that's right sweetheart I'm pregnant.......we're going to have a baby. We're going to be a family....a real family. Just you, me and our baby.......wow doesn't that sound great our baby. (she takes in a deep breath) well then of course there's Brooke-Lynn.....what do you think she'll think about having a baby brother or sister? (she rubs her fingers through his hair) I bet she's going to be happy.....but probably not as happy as your going to be when the Doctor places the baby in your hands for the first time. I know that's a few months away but that's good because it will give you enough time to get well and back on your feet......After we bring the baby home we can have Lois bring Brooke for a visit. (talking so fast she's almost hyperventilating) Don't worry I'll make sure her room is done before she comes and visits. I just realized I don't even know what her favorite color is......or for that matter what she likes! I was thinking we could give Brooke the bedroom right across the hall from the baby, unless of course you wanted to give her the room at the end of the hall. (trying to catch her breathe) You know I don't know why I'm rambling on like this? it's not like your not going to be up and around to help me decorate, we have plenty of time. Good thing because not only do we have to fix up Brooke's room but we have to get stuff for the baby as well. You know babies need a lot of things.......I'm not sure exactly what but I do know it's a lot. (She stops talking and looks down at his face) This is usually the part when you tell me how much you love my rambling. (her face goes blank) Alexis places her head on Ned's chest and closes her eyes, as tears begin to form. She's overwhelmed about being pregnant and yet is starting to become upset. Why wasn't Ned responding to her news the way she had dreamed? It wasn't suppose to happen like this she thought to herself. She was suppose to tell him she was pregnant and he was suppose to wake up! After about five minutes she begins to yell at him through her tears. Alexis: Damn you Ned Ashton..........Wake up I NEED you, our child needs you. (she lifts her head and grabs his hands tight) I can't do this alone.........I can't lose you (she collapses her hand next to his and begins to cry uncontrollable) Wake up Ned it isn't suppose to be like this.......please don't let her win............don't let me lose you because of her. I don't know what I'm going to do if I lose you. (she stands up straight. Still crying and yelling) I can't do this Ned....... I'm so sorry........I just can't do this anymore.......Do you know how hard it is for me to just stand here week after week and watch you slowly slip away from me? It's been over a month since you've opened those beautiful eyes of yours...........since you've held me........since you've told me you love me........Do you know how much I just want to shake you and make you wake up? ................Oh God please God make him wake up......Please........ she places her face into her hands and runs out into the hall. She lends against the outside of his hospital door and slowly drops to her knees. Her hands still covering her face and the halls echo with her uncontrollable tears.
