Chapter 19 Ned and jax are sitting in the front room talking when Alexis screams from the other room. [ Authors note (not that I am one but I try): Alexis is screaming in pain throughout the entire chapter.] Ned: (getting up and running to her) Alexis, what's the matter? Alexis: The baby......I think it wants out. Jax: I'll get the car. Alexis: Ned it hurts so bad, make it stop. Ned: I wish I could, really sweetheart I do. Alexis: Ned it's still to early for this to be happening. Ned: It's going to be okay. Come on let me get you to the car. (he picks her up and carries her to the other room) Jax: (walking throught the door)The car won't start. Ned: (yelling) What? Jax: The battery is completely dead. Ned: This can't be happening. Now what are we suppose to do. Jax: I called an ambulance but they said it would take them at least 45 mintues to get here. Why don't you put her back on the bed. Ned: Good idea, (smiling at her) she is getting a little heavy. Alexis: Ned you're going to pay for that. I'm scared, and it hurts. Ned: (placing her on the bed) Alexis you need to try and calm down. Jax: I'll get a bucket of hot water. Ned: For what? Jax: I don't know, but you need hot water and plently of towels. Ned: Say's who, you really need to stop watching late night TV. Alexis: Oh Ned I really think the baby wants out NOW! Jax: well tell it no it's not time. Doesn't she still have atleast 6 weeks to go. Ned: Can you please be quite, besides i thought it was more like four. Alexis: Ned! Ned: Alexis hang in there the ambulance will be here soon. Alexis: I don't think I can wait that long. Jax: Well congratulations not only are you going to see your child born but your going to delievery it. Ned: (yelling) No way! Alexis: Ned! Ned: okay maybe you should get that hot water and towels. Jax: For what. Ned:(yelling) I don't know just do it! (Jax leaves) Alexis just hang in there, before you know it this will all be over. Alexis: I hope so..........Oh god Ned this is all your fault. I'm never doing this again........and when it's over I'm going to killl you! Ned: (lovingly) I love you too sweetheart. Alexis; Ned it's coming. Ned: No....god no! Jax: (running in the room with towels) What happened? Ned: The baby is coming. Jax: Here I brought towels and a pair of scissors. Ned: Scissors for what? Jax: To cut the cord. Ned: You can do that. Jax: (laughing) Oh no that's your job. Alexis: Ned Ashton I hate you. Ned: trust me right about now I'm not to thrilled with myself either. Jax why don't you do something useful for a change and sit with Alexis. You know this is a little closer then I ever expected us to be! Jax: (he sits next to Alexis and holds her hand) Hey this isn't my idea of a very fun day either. What are you going to do? Ned: (smug) I don't know.........catch? Alexis: Ned where's the ambulance? I hate you! Ned: So you keep telling me. Jax: I think she needs to push real hard and then you need to pull the baby out. Ned: (scared look on his face) You've got to be kidding me. Alexis: Here we go. Ned: (yelling) No! Jax: (yelling) Yes! Ned can you see the baby. Ned: Yes, it's head sticking out. Jax: Grab it and pull just the head all the way out. Ned: I got it (the baby is crying) Jax: Okay Alexis are you ready, you need to push it all the way out. Alexis: Okay but Ned you're going ot pay for this. As Alexis pushes the baby out she keeps yelling at Ned about how much she hates him. Ned: (shocked) I've got him! Alexis: it's a boy. Ned: Yea. it's a boy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 20 Ned holding the baby in total shock. Ned; okay now what do I do? Jax; (walking over to him) This is where you get to cut the cord. Ned: Sounds easy after this. Here you hold the baby. Jax: He's all covered in blood. Ned: (yelling) Fine then you cut the cord. Jax: No I'll hold the baby. Ned cuts the cord and cleans out the baby's mouth, before wrapping it in a towel. Alexis: Is he okay, Ned? Ned:Yeah he's beautiful. (getting up and walking over to her) Do you want to see your mama? (he places the baby on her stomach) Jax: I think I'll go wash my hands. Congratulations Alexis. Alexis: He's perfect just like his daddy. Ned: (sitting down next to her and placing his arms around her) I thought you hated me? Alexis: Not anymore.........how can I possible hate someone who makes me so happy. I love you Ned Ashton. Ned: Well I love you too and since you don't hate me anymore does this mean we can have another one. Alexis: (stern) NO WAY! Ned: (laughing at her) Somehow I thought you'd say that. Scene II Ned & Alexis are in her hospital room lying on the bed talking when Monica comes in. Monica: Well I hear congratulations are in order. Alexis: (excited) Thanks!.....Did you see him. Monica: Yes he's gorgeous and very health. He's in an incubator because he's so small but other then that he looks just like a miniature Ned. I also noticed he doesn't have a name, his crib just says baby boy Davis. Alexis: We haven't picked out a name yet. (looking at Ned) I think we should. Ned: (smiling at her) So do I. Alexis: Monica why does his crib say Davis not Ashton?. Monica: Because that's your last name and that's how your registered, but as soon as you give that baby a name I'll have it changed. Darn that's my beeper I've gotta go. Ned: Thanks for stopping by Monica. (she leaves) So what should we name him. Alexis: I don't know........ how about Edward Lawrence Ashton Junior. Ned: (shaking his head) Sorry but one Junior in this family is enough. Alexis: Well we could always name him after your Father. Ned: Lawrence is my Fathers name, besides I don't think that would sit to well with Grandfather. Not that naming the baby after my absentee Father sounds all that great to me either. Alexis:(teasing) We could always name him after my family. Ned: (smiling) that's a great idea. Alexis: What? I was only kidding! Ned: Why not name him after your Mother? Alexis: My Mother? Ned: Yes her name was Kristen, so why not name him Christopher? Alexis: Christopher Ashton..........I like that, but what should his middle name be? Ned: (joking with her) No way lady I came up with the first and last name, at least you could do is give him a middle name. Alexis: ( with a serious face) Yes I know Ned, it was really hard for you to come up with his last name. (he smiles at her and she laughs) Okay middle name huh. How about Jacob (Ned nods) James (Ned nods again) No huh.........well how about Christopher................Christopher Michael. (Ned gives her a you've got to be kidding look) Well it sounded good. This is hard. Ned: Come on think. Alexis: Okay I've got it. If we get to name the baby after my Mother then I want him to be named after his daddy as well. Ned: Christopher Lawrence? Alexis: Nope....... I want his name to be Christopher Edward Ashton. Ned: Trying to make points with Grandfather? Alexis: It wouldn't hurt...(they laugh as Jax walks in) Jax: What's so funny? Ned: Nothing. Hey thanks I don't know what we'd do if you weren't there to help. Jax: Don't worry about it I was glad I was there. (looking at Alexis) Well you look much better then the last time I saw you. (he leans down and kisses her on the forehead) Alexis: I feel much better as well. Thanks for everything Jax. Jax; By the way Ned you don't have to worry I had your car towed back into town. Ned: Thanks. Jax: So have you decided on a name yet? Alexis looks at Ned and he smiles. Alexis: His name is Christopher Edward Ashton.
