Chapter 7 On a sandy beach in Belize With Nik as best man, and Emily as maid of honor, Ned and Alexis stood in front of a minister on a warm sunny beach in Belize, hand and hand, just him and her forgetting the rest of the world. Ned had told Jax once that the next time he ever got married, it would be him and the women he loved. "What was I thinking" Ned thought to himself gazing at Alexis "Trying to have another big wedding. They always end up in divorces. Now it's just me and Alexis here in Belize with the two most important people in our lives, besides each other." They had wanted Lila to be there, due to her health she was unable to attend, she told them she was very happy about the marriage and the baby and gave them her blessing. Looking deep into Alexis' eyes Ned spoke "Alexis are you sure you want to do this, we don't have to get married. I don't want you to do anything you don't want to " Alexis looked at Ned with fear in her eyes but she knew it was the right thing to do, she wanted to do this, not just for her but for Ned and Kristen. She look at and Ned and said "I want this. I told you I wanted to want to marry you, and I want to marry you, Ned Ashton. I love you. I am the one who asked you to marry me. Did I not?! Yes I am terrified that I might screw this whole marrige, wife, mother thing up, but with you by my side, I know I will be able to do just about anything. So lets get married!" with that Ned nodded and the minister began the ceremony. As Ned and Alexis said their vows to one other, the sun shined bright as if God was smiling down on them, knowing that they would be together forever. Ned began to say his vows to Alexis " I, Ned Ashton, take you Alexis to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worst, in sickness and in health, till death do us part, I give you my love, my faithfulness and my understanding.." Then he continued with words of his own " I promise to protec! t you and Kristen, I promise to be the husband and father you would want me to be for you, Kristen and our future children. You will never have to wonder how much I love you, it goes without saying. I have waited a long time for someone to come along and love me for me, not some fantasy of a man they wanted. You opened my heart, a heart that I thought would never be opened again for love. You healed something inside of me the day you walked in my life and I will be forever indebted to you for that. I love with everything that I am. I love you Alexis." Alexis stood there tears streaming down her cheeks taking in the words Ned had just spoke to her. The minister looked at Alexis and she began to say her vows to Ned "I, Alexis Davis, take you Ned Ashton, to be my lawfully wedded husband..(Alexis paused, she looked at Ned as tears began to well up in his eyes as they did in hers. Alexis continued, her voice trembling from her joyful crying) to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worst, in sickness and in health, till death do us part, I give you my love, my faithfulness and my understanding" She too spoke her on vows to Ned. "I promise to be the wife and mother to our children that you would want me to be. My love for you grows deeper and deeper each day. I never thought I would ever fall in love, most of all, ever get married. Then you waltzed into my life without so much of a warning. , Ned Ashton you opened my eyes to a whole new world. A world that I never knew excisted. You taught me to love and how to be loved. I never knew what that was till you came along and filled my life with so much joy and happiness. I can never repay you. As we start our new life, me, you and Kristen (Alexis took hers and Ned's hand a placed in on her stomach) I hope our lives are filled with all the love this world has ever had. I love you." Alexis finished and Ned gazed deep into her eyes knowing she meant every word she had just s! poke. They exchanged rings, then Ned kissed Alexis hand and began to sing to her a song that makes him think of her everytime he hears it.. "This is not a typical wedding song, but everytime I hear it, I think of you" Ned said as Alexis eyes began to fill with tears. Steel on velvet, silk on stone Sun-warm leather set against chrome You're a contrast to what I've become No one has touched me like you Like you (Alexis looks deep into Ned's eyes as he sing to her. She closes her eyes and let's the words he is sing wash over her body.) Red horizon at day's end Brushing scarlet over your skin Blushing places I long to kiss No one has touched me like you Like you (Ned takes Alexis hands and pulls her to him and they begin swaying back and forth as he sang. Alexis wraps her arms around Ned's neck and he wrapps his arms around her waist. The minister, Nik and Emily stand there watching with happy smiles on their faces.) You in my arms breathless and sure A barefoot ballet on a bare hardwood floor So much in sync it seems that we barely move No one has touched me like you Like you White lace curtain opened wide Single candle tremblin' with light My bold passion suddenly shy No one has touched me like you Like you (Ned takes Alexis face in his hands gently wipes away her tears and gently kisses her on the cheek) " I love you" he said before the minister pronounced them man and wife. "You may kiss your bride" Ned pulled Alexis into a slow passionate kiss. Nik and Emily began whistling and cheering. They were so excited that now the two people who had natured them and love them were finally married. They had tried to get Ned and Alexis back together after they broke up, but nothing worked. But then fate stepped in, one tiny little miracle they named Kristen Nicole Ashton. Nik and Emily stayed in Belize with Ned and Alexis for a few days, then headed back to Port Charles to tell everyone that Ned and Alexis had finally got married. So all the fuss would have died down before they got home from their two week honnymoon. The newlyweds finally had some much needed time alone. They walked along the sandy beaches hand in hand laughing and talking about anything and everything. Watching the sunset in the evenings and not quite making it up to watch the sunrise do to their late nights of talking and love making. Everyone who saw them could see that they were two people very much in love. Ned would sing to Kristen every night before he and Alexis went to bed. Alexis new she had done the right then when she married Ned. She didn't know why she she was so afraid and ran out on their first wedding, but she now knows that she can still be the women that she has always been, now, she just has someone to share that life with. Alexis was sitting on the couch thinking about her and Ned when she was brought out of her thoughts by the soothing sound of Ned's voice "A penny for you thoughts" Ned said as he walked around the couch to sit beside her. Ned pulled Alexis back to him and let her lay her head on his chest. Alexis looked up at him "Huh? What? oohh... well I was just thinking.. what our life would have been like if I had not found out I was pregnant. I mean, I love you with all my he! art, and I am so gald we are finally married, but do you think we would have ever gotten past our unpleatness (Ned chuckled at her choice or words). I mean pretty much the whole town try to get us back together, Nik, Em, Chole but nothing seemed work. We were just two stubborn people to stubborn to set our prides aside to see what we had. I mean, do you think we could have ever gotten back to where we were before I ran out of the church that day?? We had/have said and done so pretty bad things to one another. I mean when you told me to "have a nice life" I just wanted to run and cry. I thought how could he be so cruel after everything we had been through together. It hurt me, Ned, and I thought that we could have never gotten back to being "the way we were" I love you so much it hurts, and I never want to hurt you or be hurt ever again." Ned looked at Alexis with his soft hazel eyes. " Sweetheart, I honestly don't know if we could or would have ever gotten back to the way we were, but I am glad that someone upstairs had fate (he placed his hand on her stomach and she placed her hand on his) step in and help. I am so glad that we have gotten past the as you called it "unpleatness" in our realtionship. I even think the time apart made us stronger. I love you so much that, I don't know what I would have done if anything were to have ever happened to you when we were apart. If something would have happened to you, like after the shooting, Alexis do you know how scared I was when I called the police station and they told me there had been a shooting and you and Em were invovled. I felt my whole fall around me. I would have never been able to forgive myself if something were to ever happen to you if you had died feeling that I hated you. I hope that we can be honest with each, tell each other anything, whether it would hurt that other or not. This is it, my final marraige, Iguess the others were just my practice runs.
