*Jax’s Penthouse*

“Okay that’s it give me back my file” Alexis shouted at Jax. “If  your not going to play fair then I’m not going to help you.”

“Oh no.” Jax responded as he ran to the other side of his living room. “You want it you have to come and get it.”

“Jax I don’t have time to play games with you I really need that file.” Alexis demanded.

Jax just stood there and laughed at her, as her face became even more serious. After a few minutes without warning Alexis started running towards Jax.

“I said give it to me.” She yelled as he took off running and tripped over the edge of the coffee table. “That’s a very good place for you.” She stated as she ripped the file from his hand.

“You’re not even going to help your poor ex-husband up?” He asked pouting like a child.

“NO!” she said walking away. “You’ve already made me late for my lunch date with Ned.”

“Yea well his loss is my gain.” He replies as he gets up and grabs her from behind and starts tickling her.

“Stop it Jax I really have to go.”

“If I stop tickling you will you come back later and help me with my business contracts like you promised you would.”

“Yes, yes I will.”

“I didn’t hear you promise me.” Jax said laughing as he continued to tickle her.

“I promise I promise.” She yelled through her laughter.

“Now I was under the impression that the two of you were divorced.” Lady Jane said as she opened the penthouse door.

“They look more in love now then they did when they were married.” John replied.

“Lady Jane, Dad what are you doing here?” Jax asked as he stopped tickling Alexis.

“We decided to come and visit our younger son, do we need any other excuse then that?” Lady Jane asked noticing the closeness between Jax and Alexis.

“Of course not.” Alexis stated as she went over and gave them both a big hug. “I really hate to do this but I have to go.”

“Maybe you could join us for breakfast tomorrow?” John asked.

“Dad, Alexis and I are no longer married you can’t just expect her to drop everything like I do, just because you flew into town.” Jax replied.

“I’d love to have breakfast with you.” Alexis replied give Lady Jane another hug before turning around and sticking her tongue out at Jax. “And I’d drop anything for any member of this family.”

“Oh great does that mean you and Ashton won’t be having lunch today?” Jax asked laughing.

Alexis just gave him an evil look.

“Oh dear child if you have lunch plans then you better get going.” Lady Jane said. “Well see you in the morning.”

“Count on it.” Alexis said as she hugged them again and left.

“So would you like to tell me what exactly is going on between you and Alexis?” Lady Jane asked in a demanding tone.

“Mom there’s nothing going on between Alexis and I so don’t even go there.” Jax stated.

“It didn’t look like nothing to me.” John replied. “Sorry son but when we walked in you had your hands all over that woman.”

“Alexis and I are friends.” Jax said. “Besides she’s in love with Ned and I am in love with Chloe.”

“Yes that fashion designer.” Lady Jane said rolling her eyes in disgust.

“You haven’t even given her a chance.” Jax said.

“I don’t need to, a mother knows what’s best for her son.”
“I love Chloe and I really don’t want to talk about this anymore.”

“Well is she still sick?” John asked.

“No dad she’s not.” Jax replied. “Luckily we were able to get the medication we needed for her and she is doing much better.”

“Well where is she, is she still living with you?” Lady Jane asked.

“Yes she’s still living with me and she’s in Milan right now so you don’t have to worry about running into her because she won’t be back for two weeks.” Jax stated coldly. “Now what do you say we go down to the grill and get some lunch?”

“Sounds good to me.” John replied.

“You know Jax I only want what’s best for you.” Lady Jane said as she hugged her son.

“Yes mom I know.”

Early the next morning  John and Lady Jane are in their sweet getting ready for breakfast.

“You know John I don’t care what Jax says Alexis makes him happy.”

“I think you’re right about that one.” John replied.

“Do you think Alexis feels the same way about Jax as Jax does about her?”

“I think deep down inside Alexis cares deeply for our son she does doesn’t want to admit it.”

“There has to be someway to get those two kids together. I’ve never seen Jax so happy before.”

“I was thinking the same thing.” John says as he put his arms around his wife. “I never thought anyone would make Jax as happy as Brenda did.”

“But with Alexis it’s even different somehow. He seems more relaxed with her, I mean I know Jax truly did love Brenda it’s just……I don’t know something.”

“I kinda got that same feeling.” John added. “Oh well lets go have breakfast with our son and ex daughter in-law. Maybe we can get some insight into what’s really going on between the two of them.”

“I think I’ll ask Alexis to go canoeing with me tomorrow.” Lady Jane said with an evil smirk. “I’m sure one on one I’ll be able to see just how deep her love for Jax runs.”

“Yea well you just be careful you know Jax doesn’t like when we get involved with his personal life.”

“Don’t worry she’ll never know what I’m really up to.”

CHAPTER 2

“Am I late?” Alexis asked as Jax opened the penthouse door.

“Um no your actually early.” Jax replied laughing. “I was just about to call you and wake you up.”

“I happen to have been up for hours.” Alexis said as she sat on the couch.

“Couldn’t sleep last night?” Jax asked as he sat next to her.

“What gives you that idea?”

“Because the only time my darling ex wife ever got up this early is when she spends half the night pacing the floors.”

Alexis punched him slightly in the chest. “I didn’t want your parents to think that all I did on the weekends is sleep.”

“But that is all you do.” Jax said putting his hands up knowing he was about to get smacked for that comment.

“Ah saved by the bell.” Alexis stated as she pushed Jax off the couch when they heard a knock on the door.

“Lady Jane, dad what are you two doing here I thought we were going to meet you downstairs?” Jax asked as he opened the door.

“Well I thought it would be nice if the four of us had breakfast up here instead.” Lady Jane said.

“Sounds good, Jax call room service and have them send up breakfast.” Alexis said getting up and handing him the telephone receiver. “I’m starved.”

“So you didn’t sleep at all last night.” Jax stated as he took the phone from her.

“Why because I’m hungry?” Alexis said putting her hands on her hips.

“Yes!” He said firmly. “Because the only time you eat breakfast in the morning is either when you haven’t gotten much sleep the night before or when I force you to drink one of my protein shakes.”

“Well whatever you do, don’t order me one of those shakes for breakfast.” Alexis says as she makes a face at him.

“What you don’t like my shakes?” Jax asked pretending to be hurt.

“Oh I’m sorry.” Alexis says putting her arms around him. “Did I hurt your feelings.”

“Yes you did.” He said looking down and pouting.

“Good because those things are disgusting.” Alexis said as she kissed him on the cheek.

“Now will someone please tell me why it is that the two of you got a divorce?” Lady Jane asked as she watched the two of them bicker back and fourth.

“You two act more like a married couple then most married couples I know.” John added.

“Simple we got a divorce because we are in love with other people.” Jax said to his parents before turning to look at Alexis. “Right darling.”

“Right darling.” She said, “now order breakfast already will ya?”

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

After breakfast Alexis decided since it was just a nice day she would go down to the park and try and catch up on some long over do work.

“Well hello there Alexis may I join you.” Lady Jane said as she sat down at the picnic table.

“Of course you can.” Alexis replied. “I’d never tell you to go away.”

“The park sure is lovely this time of year.” Lady Jane said as she looked around.

“Yes that it is.” Alexis replied putting the papers she was reading into her briefcase.

“Oh darling I didn’t mean to make you stop working.”

“Oh don’t worry about it. I could really use a break anyway, I was starting to get cross eyed.” Alexis said taking hold of Lady Jane’s hand. “I’m really sorry I can’t go canoeing with you later this afternoon. It’s just I really don’t have the time.”

“Oh that’s okay, it’s no big deal maybe we can do it another time.”

“I’d like that.” Alexis replies smiling.

“You know it really is amazing how fast children grow.” Lady Jane said as she looked over and noticed the children playing on the swings. “I remember when Jax was just a baby and I would stand there and push him for hours. He’d always yell; higher, higher mommy I want to go higher.”

“So Jax wasn’t afraid of anything as a boy either.” Alexis replied as she watches how intensely Jane watched the children play. “Well maybe one of these days Jax or Jerry will surprise you and make you a grandmother.”

“Have you ever thought about having children yourself, Alexis?”

“Who me um no!” Alexis replied quickly.

“Oh but they are so wonderful and you would make a great mother, you have so much love inside you.”

“Well I’m glad one of us thinks so.”

“Trust me darling all your fears of becoming a mother and doing the right thing disappears as soon as the little life that you and the man you love created is put in your arms for the very first time.”

“Well I’ll keep that in mind.” Alexis said as she looked at her watch.

“Am I keeping you from something my dear?”

“No actually I’m waiting for your son to call me. He wanted me to go over a contract with him before his final meeting with the CEO of the company he’s interested in buying.”

“I didn’t realize that the two of you were working together.”

“I help Jax out with his business contracts from time to time.”

“And she does and excellent job at it.” Jax says as he walks up behind her and sits down.

“Why thank you, and you can tell me just how wonderful I am after you read this.” She says pulling out a contract and handing it to him. “And remember if he doesn’t like the terms of the contract then I say the heck with it. The company clearly isn’t worth anymore.”

“Looks good, thank you.” He says as he puts his arm around her.

“Personally I don’t know why you want the company in the first place, it really does have any mark up valve.”

“That’s why you’re the lawyer and I’m the businessman” Jax informs her before looking at his mother. “See Alexis here hasn’t figured out yet that buying a corporation isn’t always about money, sometimes it’s just about leverage.”

“Well I for one do not know what kind of leverage a small insignificant company like this one could possible have.” Alexis said as she picked up the contract.

“Trust me it will serve its purpose, beside sometimes it’s just a matter of where it’s located as well.”

“Well I let your father handle matters like that so I wouldn’t know.” Lady Jane says.

“As lovely as this has been ladies I really need to get going I have an important meeting I don’t want to be late for.” Jax said as he leaned across the table and kissed his mother good bye.

"Call me and let me know what happens.” Alexis said. “And if everything goes as planned I’ll come by later and make you some of my favorite microwave popcorn.”

“Great you make the popcorn and I’ll order up your favorite bottle of wine.” He says as he gets up and kisses her on top of her head.

“Popcorn and wine?” Lady Jane asked as Jax walked away.

“What can I say he loves the way I make it.” Alexis says laughing. “I hate to do this to you but I have to run as well.”

“Oh don’t worry about it. I should really be getting back to John anyway before he thinks I ran away.” Lady Jane says as she gets up.

“He knows you’d never leave him you love him to much.” Alexis states as she gives her a hug and walks off.

“Yes true love something that is inside of you, but something that at times, just needs a push in the right direction.” Lady Jane says quietly to herself.

*~*~*~*~*~CHAPTER 3 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Alexis is sitting on the couch in her suite, wearing nothing but an extra long white T-shirt and her hair is up in a loose pony. Her feet are propped up on the table and she’s talking to Ned on her cell phone.

"Yea well I miss you too." Alexis tells him.

"I promise I’ll be home first thing tomorrow morning and if you come over to the gatehouse around 1:00pm I’ll make you lunch."

"How come so late." Alexis asked disappointed.

"Because I have to go down to the main house and let grandfather know what’s going on."

"I hate the fact that he has sucked you back into becoming CEO of ELQ."

"I know you do and I’m sorry but….."

"You had to do it."

"I’ll make up to you Alexis I promise."

"I just hate it because now that you’ve gone back to ELQ and I’m so wrapped up keeping things going with Cassadine industries since Stefan disappeared, we hardly ever seem to spend any time together."

"I know sweetheart and hopefully soon things at ELQ will quite down and we’ll be able to spend some quality time together."

"I hope so." Alexis said clearly upset.

"Listen honey I hate to do this but I really have to go. I love you."

"I love you too." Alexis said as she hung up her phone and threw her head back as the tears in her eyes threaten to fall.

"Hey Alexis are you in there." Jax called out as he knocked on her door.

"Yea I’m here come on in it’s open." She hollered back.

"Well congratulate me Miss Davis I am now the new owner of that little insignificant company you can’t believe I wanted." Jax said as he walked in and sat down next to her.

"That’s great. I’m glad for you."

"Have you been crying?" He asked as he picked up her face and looked in her eyes.

"I just got off the phone with Ned that’s all."

"Is he still in New York?"

"Yea he said he’d be home tomorrow."

"But he was due home today wasn’t he." Jax asked as he put his arm around her.

"We had dinner plans and now we don’t."

"I hope you weren’t planning on going out to dinner like that." Jax said teasing her.

"No of course not." She said with a half smile.

"Well I’ve got a great idea."

"What’s that?" she asked

"Since Chloe is still in Milan and Ashton doesn’t know enough not to keep a lady waiting." He said forcing her to slightly laugh. "Let’s hit the town together."

"Thanks Jax but I don’t much feel like going out anymore." She said getting up and pouring herself a glass of water.

"It beats sitting around here feeling sorry for yourself."

"And where would we go?"

"Where would you like to go?" He asked getting up and walking over to her.

"Right about now the only place I want to go is to bed."

"Now that could be fun." Jax says laughing.

"You’re terrible."

"How would you know you haven’t tried me yet." He said with a seductive tone.

"Are you flirting with me Mr. Jax."

"Hey you’re the one who mentioned going to bed." Jax said, as he looked her up and down.

Alexis couldn’t help but laugh.

"So where would you like to go Miss Davis you name it, we’ll do it." Jax said as he walked her over to her bedroom door.

"I don’t recall my bedroom being an option."

"I don’t have a problem with going upstairs to my place." He teased her while holding her close and looking deep into her eyes.

"Oh yea I think Ned and Chloe would just love that." Alexis said teasing him. "Sorry guess it’s just that Jax and I couldn’t think of any other way to occupy our time, while you were both away."

Jax couldn’t help but laugh at the expression on her face as she said that.

"Okay the truth of the matter Miss Davis is that I have a very high standard when he comes to escorting a beautiful woman on a night out on the town and you." He says looking at her attire. "Just don’t fit the requirements."

"Well I’m so sorry if my appearance makes you look bad." She says teasingly.

"Darling you could wear nothing but a brown paper bag, your glasses, your hair not combed and no make up on and not even come close to making me look bad, because with you on my arm nobody would even notice me." He said lovingly.

"Aren’t you sweet?"

"Sweet?" he says now teasing her. "The only reason they wouldn’t notice me is because they’d be to busy laughing at you."

"You’re going to pay for that remark." She says as she hits him on the chest and storms off into her bed as he stands there laughing at her.

*^^^**^^*^^*****************^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^*****************^^^^^^^^^^^

"Thanks for treating me to a lovely dinner at the No Name." Alexis said sitting down on a park bench. "I really did need that."

"Well I’m just glad I could make you feel better." Jax says sitting down and putting his arm behind her.

"I love this time of night." She says placing her head back and looking up. "For some reason ever since I was a little girl, just sitting outside and watching the stars always made me feel like anything was possible."

"I know what you mean there’s just something about the night air that makes me think the same thing."

"Like tomorrow really is another day and everything will somehow work out." She added while placing her head against his chest and shivering slightly.

"Are you cold?" Jax asked as he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Would you like me to take you home?"

"I’m a little chilly but I’ll be fine as long as you hold me and keep me warm."

"I can do that." He says as he pulls her close and puts his other arm around her as well.

"So did your parents say how long they would be here for?"

"No, but that’s just like them. They show up one day and could be gone the next."

"You really are lucky to have two parents who love you so much." She says looking up at him.

"You know they love you as much as they love me."

"I know I can’t believe I was so afraid they would hate me after we told them the truth about our marriage." She said as she closed her eyes.

"You’re not the only one. I thought they’d never forgive me."

"You don’t know how much it means to me that they still consider me family."

Jax takes his fingers and runs it through her hair. "You know I still consider you part of my family as well."

"I know you do.”

"If I had to marry anyone I’m glad it was you. I don’t think I could have handled living with anyone else. Heck it was hard enough living with you." He said looking up at the stars. "But I wouldn’t trade it for anything, I really do miss seeing your lovely face in the morning." He added looking down at her. "Alexis, Alexis."

"Huh." She says.

"Am I really that boring?"

"What?" she asked.

"I was talking to you and you fell a sleep."

"Did I." She said sitting up and rubbing her eyes. "I’m sorry it’s just been a long day."

"No apology necessary." He said laughing. "I’m actually surprised you lasted through dinner."

"What do you say we go back to the penthouse and I’ll make you some popcorn?" Alexis asked getting up.

"Sounds good, but are you sure you wouldn’t rather just go home and go to bed?"

"Are we back to you taking me to bed again Mr. Jacks?" She asked teasingly.

"Come on silly this night air is making you lose it." Jax said getting up and taking her hand.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Alexis is lying on the couch, back at Jax’ Penthouse, as he comes walking out with a bowl of popcorn.

"Okay I know it probably won’t be as good as yours but it will have to do." He said putting the bowl down on the table.

"It smells just as good." She says sitting up.

"It looks just as good too." He adds. "But now for the ultimate test." He said while picking up a handful. "Open your mouth?"

"What?" Alexis asked.

"You heard me open your mouth."

"Why?"

"Because if you don’t I’ll be forced to tickle you again and I just know how much you love to be tickled."

"Fine I’ll open my mouth." She says as she opens up and he places a kernel of popcorn in her mouth as he laughs. "What’s so funny?"

"I never thought I’d live to see the day where I have to tell Alexis Davis to open her mouth. Usually I can’t get you to shut up."

"You’re really asking for it you know."

"Yea I know." He says still laughing. "So how does it taste?"

"Could use more butter." She says teasing him "And a little less salt."

"Picky tonight aren’t we." He said as he started to tickle her.

"You said if I opened my mouth you wouldn’t tickle me." She spit out as he pinned her beneath him and continued to tickle her.

"That was before you told me you didn’t like my popcorn."

"I never said I didn’t like it." She said as she began to squirm, her lips almost coming into contact with his.

Jax could feel her hot breath on his. He stopped tickling her as their eyes meet and he slowly lowered his mouth to hers. She closed her eyes slowly as he leaned down and lightly kissed her. He pulled away after a moment and she snaked her arms around his neck.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked still looking deep in her eyes.

"Yes." She replied.

That was all the encouragement Jax needed as he grabbed her passionately and kissed her with more force then before. The kiss began to take on it’s own energy as Alexis yelled. "Jax!"
