CHAPTER 41 Later that night Jax rolls over to cuddle tighter against Alexis only to find her not there. He rolls over and looks at the clock. He blinks twice to make sure he’s reading it correctly. He gets out of bed shivering so he throws on his bathrobe and a pair of socks and then heads down stairs. He walks into the living room to find Alexis sitting on the couch eating ice cream and covered with what looks like at least three blankets. He starts laughing to himself as he makes his way over to her. Suddenly she jumps and it causes him to stop. He looks over at the TV and notices she watching a horror flick, which instantly puts an evil thought in his head. Alexis is so engrossed into the TV that she doesn’t hear him slowly walk behind her and into the kitchen. She jumps again and screams slightly as the girl on TV is killed from behind. Jax walks out of the kitchen and stands directly behind her. She still has no idea he’s there. The sound on the TV changes to one of an eerie sound so Jax knows something bad is about to happen. Just before it does however he quickly places his one hand around her neck and shoves an ice cube down her back and screams in her ear. Alexis nearly looses it as she jumps up and the ice cream goes flying. Jax couldn’t help but start laughing. However his victory of scarring her death is quickly faded as she starts crying hysterically. He jumps over the back of the couch and holds her tightly trying his hardest to calm her down. “I’m so sorry honey.........I swear if I would have known it would have scared you that much I would have never done it.” Alexis didn’t say a word as she continued to cry deeply into his chest. Jax rubbed the side of her head and held her even tighter when he realized his words weren’t helping her calm down much. A few minutes past and even though her head was still buried in his chest she had stopped crying and her breathing had evened out. “I really didn’t mean to scary you that bad.” He replied as he ran his fingers through her hair. Alexis sat up and looked him in the eyes. Jax looked away from her as their eyes meet. He has only seen that look in her eyes once before and that was when the social worker took Rebecca away. While Jax wasn’t looking Alexis punched him in the chest and began yelling. “How the hell could you do that to me?” She got off the couch and threw a pillow at him. “Don’t you know how bad it is to scare a pregnant woman like that?” Jax noticing how hysterical she is jumps up and runs over to her. As he tries to place his hands around her waist she pushes them away. “I swear Jasper Jacks if you ever do that to me again I’ll never forgive you.” Jax again walked over to her and tried putting his arms around her but she quickly pushed him back. “I’m going up to bed you can sleep on the couch.” She hollered as she made her way past him and up the stairs. Jax walked over to the couch and disgusted with himself threw his body harshly down. He jumped slightly closing his eyes as he heard their bedroom door slam shut. “Well you did it this time didn’t you Jax?” He said to himself as he shook his head. ~*~ It’s 7:30 am when Alexis rolls out of bed. She goes into her closet and pulls out a beautiful maternity business suit and gets dressed. A few minutes later she descents the stairs and makes her way into the living room. She’s surprised not to see Jax still sleeping on the couch. “I don’t suppose I could make last night up to you by offering you a nice hot cooked breakfast made especially for you?” Jax stated as he walked up behind her carrying a tray full of food. Alexis looked up at him and took the rose which was lying on the tray off. “I’m not very hungry.” She stated as she walked past him and into the kitchen. Jax followed closely behind her. “I really am sorry Alexis.” Alexis walked over to the fridge and pulled out the milk. “I know you were just trying to be funny.” She replied as she poured herself a tall glass. “And I’m sorry I  didn’t take it better.” Alexis’ sudden change in attitude shocked Jax completely. “You had ever right to be mad.......and your absolutely right in you’re condition I shouldn’t have scared you like that.” Alexis walked over to the table and sat down. “No you shouldn’t have....but I also shouldn’t have made you sleep on the couch.” Jax walked over to her and got down on one knee. “Does that mean alls forgiven?” he asked hopefully. Alexis put her hand on his cheek. “Hopefully on both ends.” Jax gave her a kiss on her forehead. “You know as happy as I am that we’re having a baby...........I’ll be even happier after it’s born.” Alexis rolled her eyes. “You and me both.” Jax got up off the floor and sat in the chair next to her. “You never did tell me what happened at the police station yesterday.” Alexis stated “Don’t worry about it. My lawyer is taking care of everything.” Alexis looked over at Jax. “How do you plan on pleading to the charges if this does go to trail?” Jax got up and poured himself another cup of coffee. “Not guilty.” “Since I’m not your lawyer in this case “ She took a deep breath. “How about we talk about this as husband and wife?” “Meaning?” He asked as he laid back against the counter. “Well for starters have you been to Paris lately?” Jax looked down at the ground. “As your wife they can’t make me testify against you, so whatever you tell me will stay between us.” Jax walked over and took her hand. He pulled her to her feet and they made their way into the living room. Jax had her sit on the couch and he sat on the coffee table in front of her holding her hands. “I never meant to lie to you it’s just I felt it was better if you didn’t know.” “Then you have seen him.” “Yes I have.” “When?” Jax took a deep breath. “Remember the night I called and said I’d be home a few days later then planned.” “You said the negations weren’t going as well as you had hoped.” “Well I lied. The meeting had been well over and I was back at the hotel preparing to come home when someone slipped a note under my door with a cell number on it. I had no idea whose number it was and  I thought twice about calling it.” “But you did anyway and the person who answered was Jerry!” Jax shook his head yes. “He asked me to meet him at a small café just outside of Paris.” “Why didn’t you tell me you spoke to him?” “I didn’t want to put you in the middle of anything.” “Jax I’m you’re wife didn’t you think I had a right to know you were meeting with your brother?” “Maybe I should have told you....and right about now I’m sorry I didn’t.” Alexis got up and walked away. “How did the police find out about the meeting?” Jax really didn’t want to tell her so he tried his hardest to change the subject. He walked over to her and grabbed her around the waist. “Why are we even talking about this?” He kissed her neck. “Because I need to know just how much trouble you’re in.” Jax stopped kissing her neck and looked deep in to her eyes. “Oh I’m in a lot of trouble.” He pulled her into a hot steamy kiss. “Because I’m so in love with you.” He replied as he broke the kiss. Jax went to kiss her again but she held him back. “How did the police find out about the meeting?” She asked in a very upset tone. Jax grabbed her legs and picked her up. “Who cares how they found out.” He began chewing on her neck as he made his way over to the stairs. “I’ve got more important things on my mind. That need my full attention.” Alexis grabbed the railing as they made their way up the stairs. “Jasper Jacks put me down now!” She yelled Jax put her down. “I want to know how the police found out about the meeting.....and I want to know now!” She yelled “Chloe told them.” “What?” Alexis yelled louder then before. “How the heck did Chloe know you were with Jerry.” Jax was about to say something when Alexis cut him off. “Please tell me you and her are not.......” Alexis was so disgusted with the thought that she couldn’t even say it. “NO weren’t not!” Jax yelled “And I can’t believe after everything that’s happened you would think such a thing.” “Then how did she know you were with Jerry and why didn‘t you want to tell me it was Chloe who turned you in?” “Because I didn’t want you to know that she’s been following me!” He yelled as he walked over and picked up his coat. “Where are you going?” She asked as he put his coat on and opened the door. “I’m going to take a walk before I say something I know I’m gonna regret!” “Jax wait I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have thought such a thing.” Jax opened the door. “You’re right you shouldn’t have!” “Are we interrupting something?” Lady Jane asked a surprised Jax “Lady Jane, Dad what are you doing here?” “We thought we’d fly in and surprise you.” John stated “John maybe we should go.” Lady Jane said. “Apparently this isn’t a good time for a visit.” “No please come in.” Alexis quickly stated. “Rebecca would be heart broken if she found out you were here and didn’t even say hello.” “Rebecca sweetie Grandma and Grandpa are here.” Jax yelled up the stairs, before turning back towards Alexis with a this is not over look. John and Lady Jane gave each other a look as well before walking into the house. They took off their coats just in time for Rebecca to come flying down the stairs and into their arms. “And what happened to you?” Lady Jane asked “I fell of the monkey bars at the playground.” Rebecca answered “The doctor said she’ll be fine in a few weeks.” Alexis added as Jax gave her an evil look. “And how is the new mommy to be feeling these days?” John asked noticing the tension building between them. “Some days are better then others.” She replied as she gave him a hug. “And some days are worse then a nightmare!” Jax annoyingly added “OH yes those good old mood swings.” John laughed. “Don’t fret about it son it’s all worth it in the end.” “If she lasts that long.” Jax mumbled under his breath. “Did you say something honey?” Alexis asked knowing darn well what he said. “What do you say we all get dressed and go grab a bite to eat?” John stated. “Yeah.” Rebecca yelled. “I’ll go get dressed.” She took Lady Jane’ hand “Will you help me grandma?” “Why I’d be honored to.” “Come on Grandpa you come too.” Rebecca stated. “You can help me pick out which dress to wear.” Lady Jane, John, and Rebecca went up stairs. “I take it your parents don’t know about you and Jerry?” Alexis asked “NO!” He coldly replied. “Then again they don’t know my wife thinks I’m having an affair with my ex-girlfriend either.” “Jax I didn’t mean.......” “Enjoy you’re brunch Alexis.” “You’re not coming with us?” Alexis asked “What do you want me to tell you’re parents.” “Oh I don’t know with you’re wild imagination I’m sure you can come up with something.” He replied as he walked out and closed the door behind him.
