CHAPTER 56

It’s been a week since Lady Jane’s passing and everything in the Jacks family is starting to get back to normal. Well that is for the Jack’s…Jerry is still hiding out, Alexis and Johnny have only been home three days and she’s already itching to get back to work, and well Jax he’s been a loving father and very helpful husband but yet he’s been kinda distant in a strange way and Alexis has noticed.

~ Jacks house ~

Alexis is pacing back and forth across the living room floor as Johnny screams his little heart out. He hair is a mess, she’s wearing Jax’s sweatshirt and she looks like she hasn’t slept in days.

“It’s okay sweetie” She states over and over again while bouncing him slightly up and down and padding his back. “Just close your eyes and go to sleep.”

The door bell rings and she goes to answer it.

“Aw the joys of motherhood.” Bobbie says walking in.

“I thought baby’s were suppose to sleep a lot at this age?”

“And cry and eat and …”

“Yea yea I get it.” Alexis yells over Johnny’s cry.

Bobbie walks over and takes the baby. “You look like you could use a break. Where’s Jax’s?”

Alexis walks over to the couch  totally exhausted and plops down. “He went for a run, he should be back soon.”

“Alexis I don’t mean to be noisy but other then the baby and being a new mother is something wrong?”

“Wrong?”

“Between you and Jax?”

Alexis sits up. “Where are my manners? Can I get you some coffee or tea?”

“Oh no I was up early and over at Kelly’s.  I think I drank more coffee this morning then I have all last week.”

“Poor Jax has been trying to get me to stop drinking so much coffee, and ever since I’ve been home I’ve been drinking twice as much.”

“No offense to Jax but I’d take coffee over his protein shakes any day.” Bobbie laughed.

“I know those things are horrible and he just won’t let up about me drinking them.” Alexis laughs back.

“Okay what’s so funny?” Jax asked walking in

“Nothing dear, we were just talking about you is all.” Alexis said as he kissed the top of her head.

Jax looks at Bobbie. “Don’t believe a word she says.”

“What?” Bobbie asked playful. “You mean to tell me you don’t walk around the house in nothing but your Speedos when the two of you are alone?”

He sits down next to Alexis. “Just what have you been telling her?”

“Honey please go take a shower.” Alexis half kids.

Jax jumps up. “I’ll be right back and no talking about me while I’m gone.”

Bobbie places Johnny in a small crib by the window and then walks over to Alexis and sits down. “How’s he been since Lady Jane?”

“I don’t know, every time I bring up the subject he quickly changes it.”

“Has he talked about it at all?”

“No, and I was hoping after her memorial service he’d feel a little better getting everything out. But it was like he was standing there speaking the words he felt just not feeling them, if that makes sense.”

“Give him some time Alexis he’s bond to open up sooner or later.”

“I hope you’re right, because as selfish as this may seem, it’s killing me that he won’t talk to me.”

Johnny starts crying so Alexis gets up to get him.

“I’ll get him honey.” Jax said coming down the stairs. “You enjoy your visit with Bobbie.”

“He probably needs to be changed.”

He kisses the side of her face. “I’ll change him and put some warmer clothes on him as well.” He starts to walk out of the room. “Do you think he’ll be warm enough if I put the green outfit Jerry gave us on him and then wrapped him in the Mickey blanket to take him out back?”

“I can’t see why not.” Alexis replied. “But make sure you keep his hat on his head.”

“Don’t worry mommy I will.” Jax laughed heading up stairs. “Nice seeing you again Bobbie.”

“Nice seeing you as well.” She yelled back. “Okay that’s it Alexis you have to tell me how not only you’ve got that man changing Johnny’s clothes but his diaper as well.”

“He’s been very attentive with the baby ever since we got home.” She walks over and leans against her desk. “It’s just me he seem to have a problem with.” Bobbie looks at her. “Oh you know it’s probably just me and my hormones getting the better of me, forget I said anything.”

Bobbie looks at her watch and then jumps up. “Oh Alexis I hate to do this to you especially now but I’m late for my shift at the hospital.” She walks over to her and gives her a big hug. “Things are just strange for him now with the death of his mother, the birth of his child, worrying about his brother not getting caught, he’s got a lot in his head and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll talk to you about it and things will get better.”

“Thanks Bobbie believe it or not you have made me feel a little better.”

“I’ll drop by later this week and will do lunch.”

“Sounds great, see ya then.”

Bobbie leaves and Alexis walks over to the closet pulls out her coat and walks out back. Jax is lying on the hammock with Johnny lying next to him. She quietly walks over to them and looks down. They both look so peaceful just lying there sound asleep. She thinks twice about picking Johnny up and bringing him inside but doesn’t have the heart to move him. She looks up and notices a small blanket lying on the picnic table. She walks over picks it up and covers Jax with it. She then blows both of them a kiss and walks back inside.

Shortly after Alexis makes her way inside Chloe comes walking out of the bushes. “He should have been our baby Jax …he should have been ours.”
