Chapter 57

Alexis comes walking out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee in one hand and the paper in the other. “Jax’s honey you‘re going to be late if you don‘t get a move on it.” She yelled up the stairs and then walked over to the couch and sat down. “Jax Jax come down here quick.” She yelled placing her coffee on the table and jumping up.

“What’s the matter.” He yelled flying down the stairs.

“Look.” She handed him the paper.

Jax took the paper looked at it and threw it across the room. “Damn I told him to stay out of site. What the hell was he thinking?”

“Don’t worry Jax I’ll go down town and see what I can do about getting him out.”

The phone rings and Alexis answers it.

“Alexis did you see the paper?” Bobbie asked.

“Jax and I were just looking at it now.” Alexis replied

“It says that they picked him up last night were you able to get him out?”

“Jerry was arrested last night?” Alexis screamed.

“Why the hell didn’t he call us?” Jax stated in the background.

“Listen Bobbie I’m gonna go down to the station now and see what I can do. I’ll call you later.”

“Thanks Alexis.” Bobbie sighed

Alexis hung up the phone and started running upstairs.

“Jerry always did have perfect timing.” Jax said annoyed as all hell.

Alexis stopped midway on the stairs. “I’ll do what ever I can to get him out. I’ll pull strings if I have to but I’ll get him out.”

“You shouldn’t be going back to work yet.”

“Jax he’s your brother I’m not going to leave him there.”

“And we have a two week old baby upstairs who depends completely on his mother . What do you plan on doing with him while you work on getting Jerry out?”

She walks back down the stairs and walks over to him. “I don’t suppose you could breast feed him for me.” She laughed which lightened the tense filled room.

He put both his arms around her and held her tight. “I’m going to call Mr. Jacobson and cancel our meeting and then I’ll call David Loher and see what he can do to get Jerry out of this mess.”

Alexis pulled out of his grip and pouted her way over to the couch. “David Loher is a jerk who doesn’t know one end of the courthouse from the other.”

Jax walks over and sits down next to her. “You and I both know that he’s more then capable of getting Jerry out.”

“Yea out of one mess and into another.”

He placed his hand under her chin and picked her face up to meet his eyes. “You want to tell me what this is all about?”

“Your brothers in trouble and I can’t even do anything to help him.”

“Alexis sweetheart.” Jax laughs “Before you know it Johnny will be to old to tuck in at night and Jerry will be in another mess he can’t get out of.”

“I just wish I could help him now.”

“The last person Jerry is going to expect to see down town is you.”

“But I should be the first and only person he should expect to see.”

Jax’s cell phone rings. “Jax’s”

“Hey there big brother, how’s life treating you?”

“Better then you at the moment, I’d say. Why the hell didn’t you call me last night?”

“You and that lovely wife of yours have more then enough to worry about these days then little old me.” Jerry replied.

“I’m going to get a hold of David Loher and get you out of there.”

“That Jerk?” Jerry asked “Well don’t worry about it because I’m no longer behind bars.”

“They let you out?” Jax asked completely shocked

“Yea some kind of technicality or something, not really sure.”

“Your pushing your luck big brother.”

“What good is it if you can’t push it.” Jerry laughed back. “You take care of the mother of your child and I’ll talk to you later.”

“Jerry’s out?” Alexis asked as Jax hung up his phone.

“Yea something about a technicality, he didn’t elaborate.” Jax stated looking at his watch. “If I hurry I can still make that meeting with Jacobson.” He kissed the top of her head. “I won’t be long.”

“Sure you just go off to your exciting corporate company stealing life and I’ll just sit here and play mommy.”

He picked her face up and kissed her lips lightly. “A couple more weeks and you’ll be overload with cases once again.” He got up and grabbed his jacket. “I’ll be home in time for lunch.”

Alexis threw her feet up on the coffee table and sighed loudly.

“Where’s daddy going?” Rebecca asked coming down the stairs.

“He’ll be back in a little bit.” Alexis replied holding out her arms. “Come sit by me.”

Rebecca ran over and jumped into Alexis’ arms. “Are you and daddy fighting again?”

“Fighting again?” Alexis asked confused.

“All you and daddy do ever since Johnny came home is fight.”

Alexis wrapped her arms around her. “Daddy and I haven’t been fighting.”

“Then why are you always yelling at each other?” Rebecca asked as Johnny’s strong cry came across the monitor.

“That’s why daddy and I yell all the time.” Alexis said picking up the monitor. “Because Johnny’s always crying and we have to yell over top of him.” She pushes Rebecca off her lap. “Don’t worry about it baby daddy and I aren’t fighting I promise.” She gets up. “Now do you want to help me get Johnny up and changed?”

“No way he smells.” Rebecca stated making a funny face.

Alexis couldn’t help but laugh as she made her way up the stairs.

Rebecca just shrugged her shoulders and pulled her coloring books and crayons out from under the coffee table. She started looking for a page to color when the doorbell rang.

“mommy somebody’s at the door.” She yelled up the stairs finally finding the perfect page and picking up a crayon.

A few seconds later the bell rang again. This time Rebecca walked over and answered it.

“Well you’ve certainly grown.” A man said standing there looking down at her.

“Mommy’s upstairs changing Johnny.”

“You don’t remember me do you?” The man asked

Alexis came walking down the stairs with Johnny in her arms. “What did you yell sweetie?” She looks up and notices the man. “What are you doing here?” She barely spit out due to utter shock.

“I heard you had the baby and wanted to congratulate you in person.” He hands her a bouquet of flowers.

Taking the flowers from him. “Is that the only reason you’re here?”
