Episode 1: June 8, 2001 Jacob decides to tell Mike Cronin that he doesn't understand why they keep taking his voice off songs or asking him to go and redo it. The guys record "All or Nothing" and Jacob gets mad that he doesn't have a part. Why does Erik sing as much as he does? Why does Ashley get the soulful parts when he's the "whitest guy Jacob knows"? Jacob talks to a person from J Records and lets his anger spill. He says he isn't here to be a backup dancer and he was happier trying to make it big in the garage. Jacob even says that he's "iffy" about being in the group. The guys even talk to Clive Davis to get it settled. Later, the guys go to record "Love Should Be A Crime" with Mark Hudson who produced Ringo Starr's last album. Jacob was thrilled to work with this guy (and he had a big lead) and loved the way they all recorded together. Jacob said that this recording session was like "a history lesson taught by someone brought from back in time to show them where music came from". Episode 2: June 8, 2001 The guys record "Every Six Seconds" Erik calls his mom to talk about his biological father but finds out that his grandma (who was like his other parent) died. He was so heartbroken and he flew out to New York where her ashes were scattered along the Hudson River. Erik's mom told him he should contact his father because that was his grandma's dream for him. He calls him and asks when they should meet, but since cameras would be there, his father said that "it's not like a Latino to be on TV" and that "he wants to keep his culture" and "maybe Erik lost his" Erik talks to Ashley about it, and Ash says just to give up and he can't believe Erik would call "this early" Erik says, "But Ashley, it's 1:00." Then Ash says, "In a manly way, I'm glad we're tight" Meanwhile, the guys got to a radio convention in Las Vegas and meet with DJ's from all over the country to promote the single. Back in Orlando, "Liquid Dreams" finally is on the radio, and the guys jump up and down for joy. |
