"Marston Joins OLTL" - SOD

Fans are already stirring up a buzz about Nathaniel Marston (ex-Eddie, AS THE WORLD TURNS) now that he has been cast as ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Al (taking over from Michael Tipps), and he isn't even airing until December 4.
Perhaps they've got good reason. Colorful doings -- and misunderstandings -- seem to dog Marston: During his two-year tenure at ATWT (he left in early 2000), there was a strange incident with an ATM and an.. encounter with a fellow actor - but Marston insists that he's grown up. "At WORLD TURNS, I was younger, I was rebellious and I picked my battles poorly." he admits. "It ended up not working out to my advantage. So, lesson learned. On to the next set."
Fortunately, says the actor, he has already run into some friends at ABC (including former co-star Keith Coulouris, Keith: ex-Reid/David, ATWT). And then there's Felicia Minei-Behr, senior vice president, programming, ABC Daytime, who called Marston in to "see what was going on with me," he recalls. She explained that former ATWT Head Writer Lorraine Broderick now held co-head scribe reins at OLTL. He responded that with any new contract, he'd need time off here and there to work on outside projects. And Marston was aware of a shortfall in acting jobs since September 11. A bargain was struck. "It's a good opportunity," says the 26-year-old actor. "I can get my films made, I can save some money and I can work on maybe grabbing an Emmy."
Meanwhile, he's met his predecessor and overcome the awkwardness of stepping into a fired actor's shoes. "I have confidence that [Tipps is] going to be doing something nefore we know it." But, he adds, "You can't be responsible for anybody's employment but your own. I'm coming to work because that's what I do."
