"True Love Wins Out for Al and Marcie" - SOW

Al and Marcie get a second chance at love this week on OLTL when Luna reveals his mission: he needs to prove that his love with Marcie is real by making her fall in love with him again. The catch? His spirit will invade the body of a man she dislikes - Michael McBain, an intern at the hospital who happens to be John's brother.

"I have until Valentine's Day to woo her," reveals Nathaniel Marston, in character as Al/Michael. "What Luna explains to me is that eventually I'll be speaking to her and she'll have to understand it's me inside of Michael. If she doesn't, I go back to heaven."

On Monday, Joey sets Marcie up on a date with Michael (played by Richard Brandon Johnson at this point). "He's a kid who just lost his spirit along the way, no pun intended,' says Marston. The date doesn't go well because Michael makes some bigoted remarks. 'I'm a little jealous," grins Marston, who notes that Al's ghost tags along on the date. "I'm a little happy when it doesn't work out."

Later, Al's mission becomes more clear when Luna tells him to get Marcie to Angel Square ASAP. He succeeds, and she ends up saving Michael's life - or so she thinks. Michael actually dies, and that's when Al's spirit enters his body. "I can't tell her," explains Marston. "It's one of the rules. You're given this huge opportunity based on the fact that true love can win out. It can beat anything, even death. If I can get her [to fall in love with me] through my spirit being in someone she can't stand, and make her love me to the point that she can look right though this body and into my heart and see my spirit - well, then, I guess I should still be here."

Marston is glad that, despite his recent firing (see next issue for the full story), he's still here, too. "Things are going to be interesting with this new character," he promises. 'It's awesome. I have waited my whole acting life to say this: "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV."
