Dr. Ann Estill , Coloratura Soprano, began her musical career at the age of five. Her mother was her first piano teacher. She played violin and clarinet in high school and college bands and orchestras and recieved a four-year citation as a violinist with the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony. She earned the Bachelor of Music Degree from Western Michigan University and holds a Master of Arts degree and Professional Diploma from Teachers College, Columbia University in piano. She is the recipient of the Doctor of Arts degree from New York University in Voice Performance. The title of her dissertation it - CONTRIBUTIONS OF SELECTED AFRO-AMERICAN CLASSICAL SINGERS: 1850 - 1955. Dr. Estill is a former Professor of Music at Jerseey City University and a former Province Officer of Sigma Alpha Iota. She made her European debut as the "Queen of the Night" in Mozart's The Magic Flute with the Rome Festival Orchestra in Rome, Italy. Her sister, Jeni, was her "1st Lady!" She has appeared on network TV and participated in master classes with George Shirley and Richard Woitach, Metropolitan Opera. Her coaches are Dr. Felix Popper, New York City Opera, Maestro Richard Woitach, and Gregory Buchalter. |
