The cockatiel is a wonderful beginner's bird. They are gentle and docile and have a friendly personality if they are handfed. Males can become good talkers and whistlers, and are more independent than the females. Females tend to be quieter and more affectionate and often are more acrobatic. These birds are a good choice for children. They also adapt well to the busy lifestyle of a working owner. They make wonderful pets Cockatiels are available in many color mutations. My babies are weaned to a diet of pellets, seed, and they eat fresh veggies. They also are drinking from water bottles. |
