Where we will be next.....
All of my Raku is completely made by hand. I do not use molds. Every piece starts out as a lump of clay, and is transformed into something beautiful.

Actually I have been a bit too busy playing with Dichroic glass to do any Raku Firings.
But do plan to get back into it when the weather cools down a little :)
I am still doing the markets around the place though.
Please email me if you want to know where.
I have been experimenting with different glazes and am having a great time formulating my own special glazes.  This large leaf plate was glazed with my first glaze that I have modestly named 'Deb's #1'.  It's absolutely stunning and so colourful !

I make beautiful Fish and Seahorses in a huge rainbow of colours and glazes.  I also make unique handcrafted tiles and plaques in a large range of original designs.  All are strung with stainless steel wire and are ready to hang anywhere.
My latest work involves a new range of thin Raku tiles that can be used as a feature in a tile project...very unique and different.  Also specially made Raku tile pieces that I am mounting onto canvas.
I'm also becoming a bit obsessed with Horsehair Raku and have been applying that technique to some of my pieces with great results.
The thing that I love most about my work is that I am always making something different and new.
This four tile Fish Mural is completely hand made, original and one of a kind .  It really is lovely!
I make tile murals that are attached to artist canvas blocks...a unique work of art.
Tiles can also be on walls or mosaic art projects.
Horsehair Raku is created by strands of real horse hair being applied to extremely hot pottery. The hair burns and smokes and shrivels up against the porous Raku clay and yes, it is very smelly and smoky but the results are always varied and so effective and unique and there is definitely no 'burnt hair' smell :)
Afterwards the Horsehair Raku is cleaned and polished, which as well as giving a protective coating also adds a soft sheen and an almost marble like quality.
I have been using this Horsehair Raku technique on my Happy Cats and also on my unique mosaic Raku Tiles on Canvas with stunning results.

Raku is simply stunning and totally unlike ordinary ceramics.
Exposed clay turns a smoky black and the crackle and metalic glazes are really beautiful.
