Buglasan Streetdancing

The Buglasan streetdancing is a continuation of the showdown held earlier in the day. The purpose of the event is to entertain the people through the various graceful move-ments of the participants accompanied by the beating of the drums. One of the attractions of the streetdancing is the colorful costumes worn by the dancers representing their various local festivals.The people on the other hand, are already on the streets an hour before the streetdancing starts to find the best spot for a good view

to clearly see the dancers. Despite the scorching heat of the afternoon sun, it is worth the wait for one can't help but join in the fun by swaying to the rhythm of the pulsating drums. Indeed, the streetdancing is one of the much awaited events of the Buglasan.

Buglasan Fireworks Competition

Our group was excited to find out that we were assigned to write something about our favorite fireworks display during the Buglasan Fireworks Competition. Just like the massive crowd of people that night, we found ourselves among thousands of spectators who came early to get good seats for the event. The event is the finale of the week long festival. The competition was grander this year because there were several contingents coming from all over the country. All of the contingents did their best to outdo each other on who could come up with the most colorful and spectacular display of fireworks synchronized to their choice of background music.

What caught our attention most that made our mouths gaped with awe and admiration was the DSS Fireworks coming from our city, Dumaguete. This is not to be biased nor anything like that just because it represented our beloved city, but the way the operatos carried themselves all thoughout the contest which inspired all of us to clap with great enthusiasm with our ohs and ahs after every explosion of bright colorful lights up there in the dark night of the sky. It was indeed unique, very original, timing to the music that sets as the background of their performance. It was no surprise to everybody who were there when the chairman of the board announced the winner, DSS Fireworks! All of us who were there agreed 100% that indeed the company was really worth it! In fact, we could hardly wait for next year, to witness again how this small company of pyrotechnics will defend its title in the next Buglasan festival.
