Pre-Launch  SPRING 2003
Here is a photo of the stern area around the rudder post. (Which is removed in this photo.) As you can see there 5 through hull fittings around the rudder post. All of which are below the waterline. All of which should not be. And all of which now, are not.

The large 2" hose that is running vertically on the left is the engine exhaust. That remains, but now the lift is lower. The engine was having to push the exhaust almost 59" vertically, now it has to lift it only 46". This should help with the back pressure.
Here is a photo taken of the same area this spring (2003). I have started the removale of the thru-hulls. I'll put he finished photos later. I still have some more finish work to do.
Here are photos of the port and starboard sides with the thru-hulls removed, and the holes feathered back almost ready for glassing and filling. I used West System and alternating layers of roving and mat. The hull here is around a half inch thick, and solid glass. After I finished I could not see the work. Plus it helped me sleep better knowing that I had 4 less holes in the bottom of my boat!

Workin' on the new wind vane
Here is a photo that I had to brighten up somewhat inorder to see the NEXUS instruments well. But it does show how I mounted them. I had the 1" stainless bent to size by the local canvas shop. Then used 60* foot mounts. Then ran the wire up inside the tubing with a plug that allows for easy removale of the entire bar for the winter.

Also I have bolted a set of quick release rail clamps on the back of a set of Audio Source speakers. They will mount on either side of the instrument pod. Can't quite hear the stereo well while motoring.

Here is one of those ideas that come to you like a smack in the head.
Everytime we steer while motoring we took to hanging a boat cushion from the ladder to keep the ladder step from digging into your back. I found these back rests in the Defender catalog for $10. I had also got a couple of Beckson boat hook clips. (CM-1) Well it says right there on the package "fits 7/8" - 1 1/8" tube. Ding! The idea came to me.
Two SS counter sunk bolts with nylon lock nut, and "Bob's your Uncle!"
Now the seat back does not push the driver foward and is alot more comfortable. They are also movable for other locations on the push pit.
