A Little About Me!

Let me see where should I start. Well as my main page says my name is Samara and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I was born and raised here but have made many sojourns to the lower 48 and Hawaii. Once you get me going I do love to travel. The trick is getting me going. As you can tell from my website I love fall. It is my favorite season. I love the smells and the colors. It truly is a romantic time.

I met my husband in all places a chat room. After talking for 2 years we finally met, we thought we would just be friends but cupid had another idea. We were married on August 18, 2000! We had a fall theme and with all of our friends and family there we had a truly spectacular wedding. We will be posting some wedding photos once we get some scanned. The wedding was wonderful and I was able to meet Mark's family for the first time. We had a wonderful time chatting and telling embarrassing stories about Mark! Everything was beautiful and it actually stopped raining on our wedding day so it was nice and sunny!

Mark and I put down roots September 1999 and we signed our name on the dotted line and bought a house. It's really cute and we fell in love with it the moment we saw it. It's was built in 1953 (we think) and has had lots of "additions" so it has a lot that needs to be updated but I think we will love it just the same!

Mark and I have the best additions to our household ever! Two weeks before Christmas 1999, Mark surprised me with my own little bundle of terror...ooops I mean joy!! My little Luckenbach. Yes it's an odd name for a kitten but Mark and I decided to name our cat after something Texan so he wouldn't feel so homesick. His nickname is Luke and he is a loving addition to our home. He's the cutest little thing and as Mark says "Luke has you wrapped around his little paw". Here is Luke and "Dad". We have a new addition to our family as of October 2000 we adopted a cute little kitten!. Her name is Isabeau but we call her Izzy for short. She is a hoot! She never stops running around and she runs poor Luke ragged but he loves it. Izzy took over the household from Luke the minute she walked in the door and I don't think Luke would have it any other way. Our kids are the best!

I work for Interior Region EMS Council, Inc. I started in June 2000 and I love my job. The people I work with are awesome and have a great sense of humor. I am a resource specialist for the company. I am in charge of ordering stock and sales of items to EMS instructors and students. I do a whole bunch more but it's to lengthy to put down here. What is really great is they are going to let me flex my hours so that I may attend college while I working! I am very nervous about returning to school but I know I will do well.

Once again I am going to be a part time college student at the University of Alaska. I am once again majoring in Fire Science and Hazardous Materials. I only have approximately two semesters left but working full time I am sure it will stretch out. I also plan on getting a certification in Phlebotomy. Besides phlebotomy I intend to obtain a degree in radiology and a paramedic degree somewhere along the way. I have finally found a college that I like for my Radiology Technician degree so I am in the process of applying for it. It is in Wyoming and LCCC seems like a great school. Mark and I are working on a plan so that I can go to school and so that we can still be together.. Why didn't anyone ever tell me relationships were so hard!

Besides school I was a volunteer firefighter at the Ester Volunteer Fire Department. I am currently a Firefighter/EMT-2/Hazardous Materials Technician I am also an EMT-2. I was the engineer for the departments Rescue truck. For those who don't know engineer is the technical term for the driver of a fire engine. I took sometime off so that I could actually go to school.

When I have time I like to hike, sail, garden listen to country music, read any type of book, camp (just started Lord of The Rings), I enjoy rodeos and stamping my own greeting cards and making chocolates.. Oh I also LOVE Longaberger Baskets Mark says I am addicted but heck he's a man what does he know! My obsession got hold of me and I became a Longaberger Independent Sales Consultant in February 2001. It's a great second job considering how much I love the baskets and I get a discount on the stuff I buy! Sounds like a win win situation to me.

I recently began working with the Alaska State Quarter Horse Association. Last year I was the gate person and somehow got wrangled into being show secretary for a couple of shows. This year I was asked to be the show secretary for the next 2 years. I am very excited and I the folks involved with shows are so great! To learn more about ASQHA or the AQHA just click the links!
