NSBE: Harvey Mudd College (NSBE:HMC) models itself after the mission statement of and strives to meet the objectives presented by the national organization. The chapter at HMC strives to increase diversity on our college campus and provide a support network for minorities in the sciences. By doing volunteer activities, outreach programs, and by organizing social activities and study breaks, NSBE:HMC hopes to achieve its objectives and aspirations. In the past year we have succeeded in doing a number of the previously listed items which are best expressed by our outreach programs and participation in the National Convention.

Some of our outreach activities in the past year include high school and junior high engineering workshops. In collaboration with other Harvey Mudd student organizations, NSBE:HMC conducted mini-engineering camps for Girls' Scouts of America throughout the San Bernardino County. Volunteers from NSBE:HMC have lead engineering workshops that not only introduce students to leadership roles and group projects but also stimulate student interest in the various engineering disciplines. Moreover, NSBE:HMC invited students from the Young Black Scholars program to visit Harvey Mudd College and participate in a day-long engineering workshop where students were asked to find solutions to mini-engineering challenges.
