The Young Black Scholars (YBS) Engineering Camps is a program dedicated to the advancement of black high school students. The engineering camps strive to give the students the leadership skills that come with teamwork and give hands on experience with working on design projects with controlled resources. NSBE: HMC and Harvey Mudd's Office of Institutional Diversity have been the main hosts for this event for the past two years at Harvey Mudd College with the support of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Students for the Advancement of Latino Scientific Achievement (HMC's SHPE chapter). We welcome over fifty high school students to the Harvey Mudd Campus where we have the opportunity to introduce them to college life and inform them on the requirements for pursuing an education in science and technology. The YBS program is two years strong through NSBE and we look forward to going into a third year. |
