OVER 4.9 MILLION AMERICANS
OVER 250 MILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE
OVER 21% OF ALL VETERANS TESTED HAVE HEPATITIS C

I did meet with Congressmen Jerry Moran; Lane Evans; Susan Edgerton (Democratic Staff Director, Subcommittee on Health, Committee on Veterans Affairs); Thomas Sanders (Executive Assistant, Office of the Under Secretary of Health); Dr. Susan Mather, Chief of Public Health & Environmental Hazards Officer); Victoria Davey (Deputy Chief Consultant); Senators Peter Fitzgerald & Richard Durbin; and several other Illinois Congressmen.

In those meetings, I mentioned the many signatures on a petition on my website: www.oocities.org/nseiff and a like one that was circulated nationwide before going online (enclosed is a single copy). Copies of these signed petitions will be sent Congressmen Lane Evans and Jerry Moran, Senators Peter Fitzgerald and Richard Durbin and to all that request. We also discussed the hesitance of the Surgeon General to officially announce the severity and magnitude of the epidemic on the total population (enclosed a copy of a Editor’s Letter from Hepatitis Magazine addressing that issue); the passing of more bills for the greater masses, like H.R. 1020/S.457, but to include all Veterans, and the investigation of transmission of the disease via “Airgun/Jet Injector Inoculations” used on recruits in basic training and the general population “PRE-DURING-POST”, the Vietnam Era.

ALL OTHER VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS ALL OTHER HEPATITIS RELATED ORGANIZATIONS

I just returned from Washington D.C. where I had meeting with Officials from the Department of Health, Department of VA, Senators & Congressmen/women from Illinois and one or two other states (Please see the following 2 pages). I was given insight into addition agenda that should be followed in order to get something done by our government. One theme that seemed to run from one official to another on the subject of getting the Congress and the President to respond; That it is good that we are pushing the subjects and causes as unified and in numbers (our we unified?). When I showed sample copies of the petition (www.oocities.org/nseiff ), all were glad to see signatures from all over the country; and four were surprised to see that a CANCER GROUP was jumping on the bandwagon to push for more money and bills effecting Hepatitis C patients. Their response was, “WHAT SOLIDARITY”! I did not tell them, that while having a Cancer Group that returned signed petitions and supported our cause, that I did not have many other HCV related groups or Veterans Organizations.

All of you that did send hand written/signed petitions or signed online, THANK YOU, you made my trip and our cause successful! In the next few days, watch for updates and more info about the meetings at www.oocities.org/nseiff ......Meanwhile, get more people to sign online; THE CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN WANT MORE!

Thanks
