On this page I have several links that have to do with some of my favorite things in and around Kilauea town.
Here's a few facts about Kilauea:
It's a small town on the North Shore of Kauai.
The town was established around 1910?.
The population in Kilauea town and it's rural areas is probably about 2,000.
Kilauea has several interesting sights, some accessible to the public and some not. These spots include:
The Old Kong Lung Store
Kilauea Lighthouse and National Wildlife Refuge
Kalihiwai bay
Kahili beach, a.k.a. Rock Quarry (I know where it is but it's kind of hard to get to)
Secret beach (it's name speaks for itself)
St. Sylvester's Catholic Church (known for it's architecture)
The Episcopal Church on Kolo Road (known for it's old graveyard)
and last but never in the least Guava Kai farms.
Here are some names (that I know of) of famous people that have either visited or even live in Kilauea:
Cary Tagawa, Sheryl Crow, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Jeff Bridges, Beau Bridges, Harrison Ford
Though small, Kilauea has a very diverse community of Hawaiian, Japanese, Filipino, Chinese, Portuguese and Caucasian. From as long as I've known and lived there, Kilauea has a very down home-like atmosphere. Practically everyone knows each others' names and what family they are from. That's what I love about Kilauea, being known and looked at like family or good friends to others.
