<5 years later>

“Bella, are you home? Where are you,” JC worriedly yelled into the dark room. “Mommy,” Jacob screamed clutching his dad’s hand. JC reached for the light switch and flipped it. “Surprise!”

JC blinked twice taking in the sight before him. All his and Jacob’s friends stood in the center of the living room with big grins on their faces. “It’s a party, daddy! For me and you cause we have the same birdday,” Jacob joyfully announced. JC was about to correct Jacob’s pronunciation but was interrupted by a soft singing voice.

“Happy Birthday to you...,” Annabelle sang as she walked out of the kitchen carrying a cake, Joey trailing behind with a larger one, “Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday JC and Jacob, happy birthday to you.” “And many more on channel 4...ow,” Chris began singing but was stopped abruptly by Lance’s elbow in his midsection. Annabelle knelt down to Jacob’s level and softly instructed him to blow out the candles. Once he did, she gave him a kiss on the cheek and turned to JC. “Now your turn,” she said as he blew out the many candles on the cake Joey held. “Don’t expect a kiss on the cheek for me,” Joey joked.

“Well since Joey won’t do it, I guess I have to,” Annabelle said in mock annoyance. She handed the cake she held to Justin and turned to JC. As she bent to kiss his cheek, he turned his face causing their lips to meet instead. “Ewww,” a group of young voices chorused. Annabelle blushed as she turned to face the children, “Jacob, why don’t you and your friends go play in the backyard. Uncle Jams...I mean Uncle Lance and Aunt Marie brought you a new slide.” Jacob’s face lit up as he led his friends to the back.

“Can we go too,” Chris and Joey asked jumping up and down. Annabelle laughed as she nodded her head. “I don’t know how you put up with them,” Annabelle said to Chris’s wife Anna, who was the producer he met at the Jay Leno show, and Joey’s girlfriend Sarah.

“Hey Belle, you want to go shoot some hoops,” Justin asked dribbling a ball on the wood floor. “Don’t dribble in the house. You’ll ruin the floor,” Annabelle scolded. Justin looked at her like she was crazy, “You sound so motherly. I guess getting old killed your sense of fun.”

Annabelle shot him a look and took the ball from him. “I’ll see you on the court later. Don’t think that just because you bought Jacob a swing set, I have to go easy on you. You’re in for a smack down.” Justin nodded accepting the challenge and turned to walk outside.

“So, Mrs. Chasez, it seems all our guest are all outside, and we’re all alone,” JC seductively whispered in her ear.

“You know we’ve been married for almost 5 years, and I still get chills every time you call me Mrs. Chasez,” she whispered running a finger over his jaw. “What do you say we forget the party for a little while and spend some quality time together,” JC said kissing her neck. “Well actually, I have a present for you, and I wanted to give it to you when no one was around. No, not that!”

JC stuck out his lower lip in disappointment and sat on the couch while Annabelle searched for something. “Here,” she said handing him her memory box, “open it.” He did as he was told as opened the box.

“It’s empty,” he said in a bewildered voice. “You know how I started a memory box for Jacob,” she paused as he nodded, ”well...this a new memory box and this is the first thing to put in it.” JC watched in confusion as she handed him a small picture. “Is this...it’s an ultrasound picture,” JC said, his voice rising with each word. She nodded afraid that he might not be happy. JC grabbed her and pulled her closely to him for a hug. “This is wonderful! Another baby! I have to tell my mom and the guys. Oh, and Jacob will be so happy to know he’s going to be a big brother! I love you so much Bella,” He said kissing her tenderly.

JC ran outside unable to wait a moment before announcing the joyous news. When Annabelle finally made it outside, she was greeted by congratulations from everyone. Belle sat in a lawn chair watching JC, the guys and Jacob play on the new slide.

Justin tried to impress everyone by sliding head first, but ended up making a fool of himself. Joey chased Lance around threatening to throw mud if Lance did not return his wallet.

Chris successfully made it down the slide head first, which lead Justin to try repeatedly to go head first. Since the slide was occupied, Jacob and JC played in the sand with Jacob’s friends. Annabelle’s heart melted as she saw Jacob scoop sand and dump it on JC’s hair, then JC responding by tickling Jacob in the stomach.

She never regretted her decision to leave her music career. Her mind wandered to the night when JC had called her his north star. Suddenly an idea popped into her head. “What you doing, Belle,” Lance asked.

“Nothing Jams, just wondering how much it would cost to buy 5 stars.”
