Annabelle reached into her box of memories and pulled out a small business card. “Jams” she smiled. Annabelle’s mind slowly remembered the day that changed her life forever.

Flashback (2003)

“I can’t believe I just performed the “Star Spangled Banner” in front of thousands of people!” Annabelle gleefully cheered.

Today was the first game for the Houston Texans, the new Houston football team, and out of hundreds of applicants, Annabelle was chosen to sing. “Excuse me, ma’am. May I speak to you?” A deep voice sounded from behind Annabelle.

Slowly Annabelle turned to find a handsome blonde man with stunning green eyes looking at her. “Um...sure” Annabelle nervously answered.

“My name’s Lance, and I’m have a management company called Free Lance Entertainment. Here’s our card,” He said handing her a small card. Annabelle glanced down and immediately noticed a typo. “So Jams, what can I do for you?” She said giving extra emphasis on Jams. Lance looked at her puzzled.

“Jams? My first name is James not Jams.”

“ Not according to the card. See, Jams Lance Bass.”

“ Oh,” Lance blushed “I guess I need new cards, but that’s not important right now. I heard you perform, and I think you’re just what we need at Free Lance.”

“Are you serious? You’d be my manager? Where do I sign?” Annabelle squealed. “Hold your horses. How about we set up a meeting at my office on Monday? Sound good?”

“ I’ll see you then, Jams” Annabelle smiled.

“Are you always going to call me Jams...um, I don’t even know your name”

“Yes, I’m going to call you Jams, and my name is Annabelle Cooper. Pleasure to meet you.” Annabelle chuckled extending her hand, which Lance took immediately.

“Well Belle, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”

End Flashback
Suddenly a knock sounded from the door, jarring Annabelle back to the present. “Hey , why’d you lock the door? It’s only me.” Justin’s voice called through the door.

Annabelle jumped to her feet and unlocked the door. “Didn’t get enough smack down before?” Annabelle challenged as she opened the door. “HA!” Justin arrogantly laughed as he strolled in. “Well if that’s not why you here, then what brings you to my neck of the woods?”

“Why Belle, I thought you’d enjoy my company” Justin smirked. Annabelle walked over to the couch and sat next to Justin. As much as Annabelle would love Justin’s company, she remembered that she was running low on time. “Justin, you know I love you, but you have to go. I have to...uh...get ready.”

Justin slightly frowned and rose from the couch. “I understand Belle. Before I go, I just wanted to tell you that I’m proud of you.”

“Because I can Stone Cold stun you?”

Justin didn’t smile or laugh. “Belle, don’t be nervous. Everything will be perfect, and no matter what, you’ll be the best friend I have” Justin whispered the last part and bent down to kiss Annabelle’s cheek. It took Annabelle a few moments to remember that Justin was only talking about the show. “Thank you Justin. I’ll see you out there right?”

“ I wouldn’t miss it for the world unless something more important comes up.” Justin smirked. “Oh, you’re asking for it now. Just be glad I have more important things to do,” She said as she shoved him out the door. She locked the door behind, and walked back over to the box.

“Back to work. Only,” Annabelle glanced at her watch “30 minutes! Time flies when your deciding your fate.”
