Melissa sighed as she stared at the night sky. She cuddled up in her sleeping bag and closed her eyes, but she couldn’t sleep. She stared at the girl sleeping in the sleeping bag by her, then got up and went inside her house, and got into her friend’s bedroom quietly. She took out her picture of J.C. and crept back outside. Melissa climbed back into her warm sleeping bag again and sighed. J.C.’s picture was beautiful, complete with a signature at the bottom. Melissa sighed again as she remembered what had happened two nights ago:

Melissa had never been to a BAND concert, let alone an *Nsync concert. Her mother hated *Nsync’s music, and so she wasn’t allowed to have pictures, CD’s, or anything of the kind in the house. She could go over to Cassie’s to listen to it, but that was about it. Melissa went over that night, and Cassie turned on the radio. Vitamin C was playing the Graduation song, and Melissa and Cassie were dancing to it like crazy. The song finished, and Cassie and Melissa sat down. An ad came on, and Melissa perked right up and listened to the rest when she heard the word, “*Nsync”.
“Yes, that’s right! You and a best friend can meet *Nsync and get an autograph from one of them! Sarah, tell them all about it!”
“Thanks George. Call this number right now and if you answer a question about J.C. correctly, you will win an autographed picture of him! But that’s not all. You can also meet him! In person! The autographed picture will be delivered to you door tomorrow, and if you win, you can go out to dinner with the hottie! Call 1-888-get-nsync now!” Melissa ran for the phone and dialed as quickly as she could. She screamed loudly at Cassie,
“IT’S RINGING!” Cassie smiled and said,
“Speaker phone!” Melissa pushed the button and slammed the phone down. They listened very attentively, and the screamed when the heard a man’s voice say,
“Hello! You are on K 8.43, speaking with Joshua, what’s your name?”
“Melissa.” Melissa screamed.
“Hi Melissa. Here’s th!e question. What is J.C.’s favorite color?” Melissa quickly and quietly went through her head all of the group member’s favorite colors...then it clicked,
“ORANGE!!!” Melissa screamed her loudest. The man’s voice said,
“Correct! We have a winner! Melissa, stay on the line.” Melissa stayed on the line, and when the commercials came on, Melissa gave her address. Melissa hung up, then called her mom.
“Mom, I just won tickets to an *Nsync concert, plus dinner with J.C.!!! Can I go? I have to spend the night here at Cassie’s, and they will deliver J.C.’s autographed picture, which is like a ticket to prove that I get to go to dinner with him!” Melissa breathing quickened.
“Calm down, Mel. Sure, you can stay. Way to go, girl! I love you, have fun!!!” Melissa hung up and screamed. Cassie smiled. “Guess your mom changed her mind, huh Mel?”

Cassie stared over at Melissa, then back at the clock. They were on the couch in the living room, and it was 10:00 AM, the time the picture was supposed to get there. Melissa stared at the door, waiting for it to ring or knock or something. Cassie went into the kitchen, then came back with drinks. Melissa shook her head, still staring at the door. Cassie slurped her root beer, and stared at the door also. Melissa jumped as the doorbell rang, and ran to the door, Cassie at her heels. Melissa opened the door, and nearly fainted. Right there, standing at the door, was the one and only Justin. Melissa just stared.
“Hi, are you Melissa?” Melissa nodded, unable to speak. Justin smiled and said,
“Well, Melissa, telling by your look, you already know who I am. Here is your autographed picture, and here is the time and date you are going to have dinner with him. Oh, and you can invite your friend. Also, here are the tickets, you requested two.” Justin smiled again and turned to leave. As he was leaving, he yelled back to Melissa, “Oh, and don’t keep my boy out too late!” Melissa just stared at his back as he left. She closed the doo!r slowly, and started to cry.
“Mel, what’s wrong? Mel, are you okay?” Cassie was crying too.
“I’m just so happy!” Melissa hugged Cassie, and they watched Justin drive away in his black jeep.

Cassie woke up and looked at her watch. It was 8:00am. She rolled out of her sleeping bag, and shook Melissa’s sleep bag. “Melissa, do you remember what today is?” Melissa opened her eyes, and suddenly she leaped out of her sleeping bag and ran into her house, Cassie close at her heels. Melissa tore through the living and plopped onto a stool in the kitchen.
“I’m just so hyper, Cass.”
“Yah, I know what you mean, Mel.” Cassie gave Melissa and her some cereal and they ate it in silence. When they ate all they could, they sat on the couch and sighed.
“Mel, I wonder what he is like. In person I mean. I mean, he is hotter in person, nicer, taller, shorter...” Cassie sighed. Melissa just stared into space, not looking at anything. Cassie got up, stretched, then sat back down. She got up again, and then grabbed a video and shoved it into the VCR. A younger Melissa with a fake microphone and cardboard *Nsync members were on the T.V. The Melissa on T.V. went to the cardboard J.C. and said, “So, what do you like to do?” A younger Cassie’s voice came,
“Oh, not much.” A giggle came after. Cassie smiled and looked over at Melissa. Melissa was back to earth, and she was giggling as she watched the movie. Cassie turned off the movie, and said,
“Remember that time when we pretended to actually BE *Nsync? We were off key, and NOT in sync with each other.” Cassie and Melissa giggled. They went into Cassie’s room, where they went to play games and talked for hours until it was time for the concert.

Melissa sighed. This was her FIRST CONCERT EVER! She was so excited. She clutched the picture of J.C. while the blue convertible bumped down the road. She looked around as her dark brown hair flew behind her.
“Cassie, I am too excited! I am TOO excited! This is too ove!rwhelming!” Melissa giggled, and was quiet the rest of the way. Cassie watched the houses zoom by. She was very excited for Melissa, and herself as well. She combed her soft red hair back and stared at her feet the rest of the way.

Cassie got out quickly out of the car, kissed her mother goodbye, and chased Melissa up the sidewalk to the Delta Center. They walked into the building, and entered where there was a lot of talking and standing around and screaming. Cassie smiled at Melissa, and Melissa smiled back. They watched the stage, where they awaited the moment they had waited for. Melissa screamed with the other girls as the hot members walked on stage. The first song they played was “Space Cowboys” and Melissa and Cassie danced together around the room. After a few songs, Cassie sat down, Melissa by her side.
“We have a special song for a special lady tonight. Justin met her the other day, and said she is the most beautiful young women in the world. So, Melissa, this is for you. Have fun with J.C.! Make sure he doesn’t eat TOO much!” Chris said. Melissa looked like she was going to faint. She just stared with disbelief at Chris, then at the floor. “And you’re sure this is NOT a dream?” Melissa whispered to Cassie.
“Yes, I’m positive.” Cassie held Melissa’s hand.
“Good.”

That night, Melissa wore her best white dress, and she looked like an angel. She had pulled her hair up into a bun, and brushed her teeth about twenty times. Cassie put on a blue skirt and a white shirt with two pigtails. Melissa wasn’t happy with her at first, but after a while she decided it was okay. Cassie and Melissa climbed into the Melissa’s sister’s blue van, and Melissa got behind the wheel, and they took off.
