Chapter Twelve |
We spent all afternoon swimming and just chillin. I was l laying out, watching Chris and Kayla splash water at Lance. Then suddenly someone was blocking my way. I took my sunglasses off, "Justin, you're blocking the sun." He grinned and held his hand out. "Come take a walk with me. I got something I wanna show you, and Kayla will be fine with the guys." I stood up and grabbed his hand. I looked at my daughter, "Kayla. I'll be right back. Be careful, and don't drown Lance." And with that Justin dragged me away. We walked around the pool and through some trees to a clearing. It was the most beautiful sight. He walked me over to a huge shade tree and sat down. He gestured, "Sit down with me." I slowly sat down between his legs, looking out over the lake. We were silent for a while, and then I felt him rubbing my back. "Beautiful, huh?" I shook my head. "The most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. Justin, I have to tell you something." I turned slightly so I was facing him. "I am so proud of you." He smiled and held up his hand, signaling me to stop. But I didn't. "No, really. I'm being serious. I always knew you were talented. You have the voice of an angel. And you have worked so hard to get here." I could see he was getting embarrassed, but he had to know that I had never forgotten about him. "I watched every time you were on TV, taping most of them. I have EVERY CD you have ever released. And I probably bought EVERY magazine you were in. I've even seen you 6 times live in concert. You have to know that I didn't forget about you. I've followed you every step of the way. And so has Kayla. She knows every story of our childhood. She has called you Unkie Justin ever since she could talk." He was in shock. "Chelle, that means so much to me. It means everything, coming from you." I leaned in and hugged him. "I've missed you Justin Randall." I could feel him smiling. He slowly leaned up against the tree. He brushed a piece of hair from my face and stared into my eyes. "I've missed you too, Michelle Lea." I leaned against him, closing my eyes. But I was quickly brought back to reality. "Momma!" I looked up and saw her walking down the hill. I smiled at Justin as we stood up. He smiled and waved at Kayla. "I'll be in the house if you need me." I looked down at Kayla. "What is it Monkey?" She smiled, "Momma, I'm sleepy, and it's getting too cold to swim." I looked down at my watch, it was almost 7 PM. I scooped her up in my arms, as I started walking back towards the house, and she instinctively rapped her legs around my waist. "Okay Monkey. First you have to take a bath, and then it'll be bedtime." |
