Trial opens for Bali conspirator
Another of the alleged key conspirators in the Bali bomb plots has gone on trial in
Jakarta.
Our Indonesia correspondent, Tim Palmer, reports prosecutors will seek the death
penalty for the man known as Idris.
Idris, 31, from Sumatra is also known as Joni Hendrawan and Fatih.
He was one of the first key suspects listed by police after the Bali attacks but was
not captured until June last year.
He is accused of a key role in planning and executing the Kuta bombings which killed
202 people, as well as the Marriott Hotel bombing which killed 12 more in Jakarta last
year.
Taking into account his alleged senior position in the Bali cell, prosecutors say they
will ask the court for the death sentence if Idris is found guilty.
Three men are already on death row for their roles in the Bali attacks.
