Receiving reports of Austrian and Prussian rearmament and alarmed at the Russian foray into Silesia, Napoleon quits the peninsula and returns to France, taking Soult, Eugene and brother Jerome with him.

Davout arrives to take command of the dispersed Grande Armee strung out behind the Oder. Concentrating almost 200,000 men in three weeks time, he crushes Kutusov outside Brealau.

Lannes and La Romana seize Oproto, cutting Wellington off from his supplies.

The Russian field army under Kutusov withdraws to Warsaw.

A Russian expeditionary force under Barclay lands in Lubeck and captures Hamburg.
