Introducing: Wyatt Clifton Keller | ||||||||
June-July 2005 We received a call in from a social worker that Brendan and Victoria's mother was pregnant again and the social worker wanted to know that if in fact the baby did get taken into SRS custody, if we would be interested in fostering the child. Of course we said that we would be interested. At the same time, we were making preparations to go to Kazakhstan. After much prayer and lots of discussion, Nick and I decided that we would take the gamble on Brendan and Tori's sibling if there was any possible chance we could keep our kids with their sibling. So, we once again made the decision to cancel our Kazakhstan adoption. We had been told that if in fact we could find her and try to get her to make the decision herself to do a private adoption before the state stepped in, this would be the best way. SO to make a long story short. I had a talk with God and I told him that if he wanted us to find her then for him to make it happen. Several weeks later, I made a phonecall and there she was. I told her who I was and that we adopted Brendan and Victoria and she started to cry. She said that she had been praying that God would let her somehow know that the kids were safe. She told me of the circumstance she was in, that she was in fact pregnant with a baby boy, due in November and the baby's father had recently died unexpectedly. Nick and I flew down that next week to meet her. We took her out for lunch and were surprised at Brendan and Tori's likeness to her. Brendan has her personality and Tori has her looks and some of her persnality too. It was a relief to meet her and she was a very nice person who was born into very unfortunate circumstances. She has led a very difficult life. Nick and I liked her instantly and she will always be a part of our family. We told her that if in fact she ever came to a point where she felt that she could not care for the child, we would be willing to adopt and raise him with his siblings. Several weeks past and we got to know each other much better with phone calls and emails. She found herself in some trouble with the law and is now incarcerated for 13 months. After many tears on both ends, she made the unselfish decision to give her baby to Nick and I to raise. What a blessing to our family. We will be able to be there for the birth and bring him home right away from the hospital. It's kind of a bizzare story but we know God is in control of it all. He wants us in her life. We will update the website as soon as little Wyatt Clifton is born. Thank you to all of you for sticking with us and supporting us through all of this wild last year. Please pray for Brendan and Tori's mom too. She is a young, scared, lost soul and she could really use the prayers. If anyone was curious, Myah's adoption will also be final by the time she is one in February of this year. LOVE AND BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL! |
