God may change our understanding of any doctrine or dogma or creed over time if He chooses. He does not develop his plans for our salvation or His church(es) in accordance with our understanding. The understandings he has given to us of Himself, He may replace with other understandings at any time. If in the future God wants women to become priests in the Catholic church, they will become priests in the Catholic church. In fact, he may determine at some point for women to be the only priest in the Catholic church! - And He can change our hearts, beliefs & creeds accordingly if He elects to do so. - Who are we to measure what our understandings are to be of Him? This is God's work through the Holy Spirit, not our work. What is a creed to God? What is our dogma to Him? Our perception of ‘consistency’ is to be no impediment to God’s will. He is not bound by the limitations of our human consciousness. The spirit of God will moves how it will move, and not necessarily according to our perceptions of what should be constant. Dogma is mutable by Time and God’s will. The very concept of ‘permanence’ is given to us by God. He can change our concepts of what is permanent, regardless of how we feel about it. Our doctrine & beliefs maybe ‘adjusted’ by Him at any time. We have seen the Great Story continues to be written. Changes in the narrative mean we cannot know for an absolute certainty that there will not be further changes and developments in the story. Don’t presume the immutability of creed, doctrine, dogma. God can change them. God has the ‘right’ to save Everyone if it suits Him - in spite of what we believe he has communicated to us. God will do what God will do. Man (sic) or no. |
