under a blaze of media publicity
and excitement.
Five had a
tremendous start
to their pop career
in the latter part of
1997 with the top
ten smash "Slam
Dunk (Da Funk)"
staying in the top
twenty for 6
weeks and selling
200,000 copies in
the process. They
also went on the
Smash Hits Road
Show which
culminated in them
winning "Best
New Tour Act
`97" as voted by
fans by an
astonishing
10,000 votes!
Hotly tipped by
the national press,
TV and Radio
alike as the act to
look out for in
1998 with quotes
like "Five are our
tip for the top in
`98" (The Mirror
20/12/98) "Five
are going to be
absolutely mega
this year" (Daily
Star 1/1/98).
