THE COMMISH
Volume 1
Number 3
I'm quite sure that I've got some new faces coming to read the Commish.  Let me give you a little background on what this is all about.  On this page I write about what's happening in the world of sports.  Mostly, I talk about hockey, but sometimes other sports jump in.  This is not to offend anyone (except those I talk about), but can be somewhat harsh.  In no way is this used for anything, but debate starting and in some cases laughing.  I used to write this piece quite often, but had run out of time.  Due to the popularity and a recent rash of requests I've decided to make a comeback.  I will try to write at least once a month, but will email those when I put a new Commish on the site.  If you would like to be emailed please click on the link to the left to email me to tell me you want to be on the list.  If not just check back periodically.                                                                                                          Thanks,

Hey everyone!!!  We're back with another edition of the Commish.  We'll call this the holiday edition.  We'll talk about the usual.  Hockey, football, abd the past year come to mind.  So, let us get started.
I want to start with the upcoming playoffs in football.  It's hard to believe that the Patriots are the best team in football.  It's hard to believe that the Vikings aren't even in the playoffs after starting 6-0.  The hardest thing to believe is that the Denver Broncos will be in the Super Bowl against the St. Louis Rams.  I don't want it, but you heard it here from the Commish.  Actually, the chances of either of these teams going is slim, but----YOU NEVER KNOW.  Any team going to New England is going to get frost bit and then some.  Almost the same for Philly.  I can't help, but to feel someone upsetting Philly in their home territory again.  Green Bay looks like a decent shot to do that.
Some other things around the NFL I found interesting.  Steve Spurrier resigns (ok maybe not a shock).  Greg Williams fired (well, not a huge suprise).  Mike Tice holding his job with the Vikings (big suprise considering the failure to make the playoffs).  However, the biggest suprise I've seen is the fact the Dolphins kept Dave Wannstadt.  The guy has a great record.  That's not in the debate.  The thing is he can't win the big games.  Whether, it's to get into the playoffs or in the playoffs.  He just can't get it done.  Although, as a Bills fan, I will say thank you Miami for that move.
Something from Buffalo is bothering me right now.  The fact that the Bills are looking at coaches who aren't head coaches.  They did this with Williams and they're doing it again.  They are currently looking at the offensive and defensive coordinators for the NE Patriots.  Now, they've got a great team in NE, but it's because of their HEAD COACH, not their assistants.  Belichick is a genious.  Buffalo needs someone proven not another hopeful.
OK, on to hockey.  What can I say.  The Capitals and the Sabres are aweful.  I find it very hard to even watch their games anymore.  The Caps need to get rid of Jagr, but who wants him.  The Sabres need to get rid of Satan, but who wants him.  It's just nice to know that the Penguins and Blue Jackets are still around to be more pathetic.
It's nice to see a team like the Flames doing so well.  Playing pretty good hockey of late.  It's just too bad they play in a division with Colorado and Vancouver.  They could be in a much better position than third in their division.  Oh, once again the Rangers are doing it (you all knew this was coming).  My big prediction for the new year.  The Rangers spend tons of money and don't make the playoffs, again.  I know I'm going out on a limb, but what the hell.
Here's something.  The Flyers pick up young gun Mike Comrie from the Oilers for little more than a bag of pucks and a pair of skates.  Here me now.  They will be a team to reckon with in the playoffs this year.  However, they will come up short again.  Losing to eventual Stanley Cup runner ups the New Jersey Devils.  As much as I believe the Devils will win it again I just think that somone will knock them off.  Someone like the Avalanche.
Remember last issue when I stated, "Just wanted to mention, for all those Islander fans or ex-fans, that its been rumored they're trying to cut $7 million off of their payroll.  It's good to be a Wild fan."  Well, Mike Milbury has issued a challenge to his team.  Start playing or you're gone.  Meanwhile, the Wild has lost only one in its last eleven games.
Usually, I make some bold predictions to finish things up.  This time we're changing things up.  We're going to reflect on sports from the past year.  A 2003 round up if you will.  So, let's get started.

FOOTBALL:
   1)  Ohio State wins the National Championship in football.  Taking out a powerful Miami team.
   2)  The Bucs win the Super Bowl beating the Oakland Raiders.  Then both teams finish that up with dismal seasons the following year.
   3)  Michael Vick breaks his leg and any chance of his team having a respectable season.
   4)  Keyshawn Johnson- hehehe.  Whatta bitch.
   5)  Gregg Williams gets axed.  Finally.  Oh the same with Spurrier.

HOCKEY:
   1)  NJ wins the Stanley Cup again.  Boring hockey and the best goaltender in NHL history (no goaltender has done so much with so little, not even Hasek).
   2)  Oh, the Dominator is back.  Patrick Roy hangs it up.
   3)  The Sabres get a new owner and get revived.  Just open that wallet a little more.
   4)  CBA- Collective Bargaining Agreement or CBA- Collection of Bastards and Assholes.  Your pick.  NO NUKES NO NUKES!!!!
   5)  Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya join the too potent Avalanche.  My god.  Selanne, Kariya, Forsberg, Sakic, and a host of other awesome talent.

BASKETBALL:
   1)  Syracuse wins the National Championship.  Go Carmelo.
   2)  Kobe gets raped or rapes.  Depends on who you talk to.
   3)  Shaq and Kobe go at it in the press.
   4)  Lebron James becomes God at the age of 18.  Makes millions, has all the women, and is looked at as THE SAVIOR in Cleveland.  All that and scoring a 250 on your SAT's.  God bless America.

BASEBALL:
   1)  Yankees lose.
   2)  Marlins beat the Yankees.
   3)  The evil empire gets beaten by a fish.
   4)  If Lebron is god then George Steinbrenner is Satan (or a very close ally).
   5)  My Tigers don't quite make history.  They fell a couple games shy of having the most losses in a season.

ALL OTHER SPORTS:
   1)  Tiger Woods finds a swedish dish to call his own.  Check her out
here. Also, click a couple of the more pics link on the page.  You'll be pleasantly suprised to see her TWIN SISTER!!!
   2)  Anna Kournikova loses her spot as the hottest professional athlete.  Check out this site
(click here) and see what I mean.
   3)   Annika Sorenstam takes on the men in the PGA.  Doesn't make the cut, but holds her own and gains the respect of everone golf.
   4)  Congrats to everyone whom I forgot and didn't put down, but deserves to be here.  Like the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders.
Finally, I want to know what you would like comments on.  Any sport you want to talk about.  You want to know what the Commish thinks on something?  Well, just ask and we shall answer on the front sports page.  Please email your question to me by clicking here.
