| 2002-2003 Injury Cost Analysis | ||||||||||||||
| Below is the 2002-2003 PHS injury cost analysis report. This statistic was determined by recording the number of injury evaluations, re-evaluations, and the different types of treatment performed by the certified athletic trainer at Poquoson High School. It was then compared to rates used by local physical therapy clinics for each individual item and service provided to the athlete. For example: Sam Mcgee sprained his ankle. He was evaluated, given an ice treatment, and shown some exercises that took a certain amount of time to perform. Evaluation- $40 Ice Treatment- $15 Therapeutic exercises- $20 The total cost for Sam in a clinic would have been $75. The next day Sam gets a contrast bath= $15, therapeutic exercise= $20, re-evaluated= $20. The total cost for Sam this day in the clinic would be $55. The above is an example and does not reflect the true costs for the services provided. Not included in this cost analysis is taping, padding, splinting, wrapping, or ice bag treatments. This only includes rehabilitation done in the Poquoson athletic training room or on school grounds. |
