City Wide Tournament
Mustangs  vs. Above & Beyond (W33-20) Sunday, March 23, 2002
The Crew looked sharp through the 1st half in their win against Above & Beyond in City Wide on Sunday, March 23, 2002 at the Bonner Center on 124th Street in Manhattan. The Mustangs cruised to a 4-1 record in their last tournament game in City Wide before the playoffs with the 33-20 win. The team played textbook basketball for the 1st quarter committing only one turnover. Malik Wylie dominated the offensive and defensive glass and recorded the team's first double- double this season. He paced the team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Malik shot 5/9 from the field and 3/3 from the line. Those are great stats!  Mark Reppert contributed to the team effort with 7 points shooting 3/4 from the floor and 1/2 from the foul line.
The win was a real team effort. Everyone worked hard on the Mustangs full court press. The Mustangs scored 26 points in the first half while they held Above and Beyond to 6 points. That's great offense and great defense. The Mustangs relaxed their press and slowed down the tempo of the game in second half. The team looked to pass the ball more and everyone had a chance to score.  The Mustangs are in second place in the Western Division and ready for the playoffs to begin in April.

Billy Clarke Tournament
Mustangs vs Peekskill (L11-18) Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 - The Mustangs made it to the  playoff round in the Billy Clarke Tournament before being knocked out of contention by a scrappy  team from Peekskill, New York. The game, played Wednesday, 12/12 at Roberto Clement State Park, was low scoring and provided few highlights. The games are running-time and the clock simply ran out on the hard-working Mustangs. The Kips Bay team out rebounded Peekskill but, even after second and third efforts, couldn't get the ball to go down. The tournament is double elimination and the loss was the Mustangs second. The Billy Clarke Tournament is named for one of the founders of the Sports United Benevolent Officials Association (SUBOA). SUBOA referees are prominent in many tournaments through New York.
