2008 ROOKIE DRAFT

NYOFACE Football League!!! Aug. 5, 2008: DARREN MCFADDEN IS #1  The League Office selected RB Darren McFadden #1 overall in the 2008 Rookie Draft for the open team Bicol Broncos.  The League Office then made QB Matt Ryan #2, also for Bicol.  With Hideki Yoshikawa also leaving the league, the League Office made the pick for the National City Husky Boyz, selecting RB Jonathan Stewart at #3.  More...
TEAMS HAVE 24 HOURS TO MAKE 1ST AND 2ND ROUND PICKS
TEAMS CAN TRADE PICKS FROM TWO YEARS OUT (2009 & 2010)

2008 FREE AGENCY

TOP FREE AGENT AVAILABLE IS VIKINGS DST.  The Vikings defense was solid last year, especially against the run with tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams. Now they get an elite pass rusher in Jared Allen, who was traded from Kansas City this offseason. They also added FS Madieu Williams this offseason from Cincinnati, which will improve the secondary. Minnesota has become the No. 1 DST in Fantasy leagues. Teams will again struggle to run against the Vikings and you can expect the pass defense to improve, and the sacks and turnovers to be plentiful.

COLLEGE DRAFT TO START JULY 22
AUCTION DRAFT TO BE HELD LATE AUGUST

2008 TOP FREE AGENT RB

Top RB Free Agent! Aug. 5, 2008: RYAN GRANT IS #1 FA RB   Projected FPTS: 179.6
Packers RB Ryan Grant emerged from the scrap heap in 2007 and turned into a Fantasy stud. The second-year running back amassed 956 yards on just 188 attempts (5.1 avg.) with eight rushing touchdowns and just one fumble, adding 145 receiving yards on 30 catches (low 4.8 avg.). Grant did nearly all of this damage starting in Week 8 after he replaced rookie DeShawn Wynn. Signed to a four-year contract extension and expected to see the starting lineup, Grant should be pretty good. Brandon Jackson will give Grant some competition for reps in camp and into the season, but Grant is still a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB. More RB FA...
ERNEST GRAHAM AND JAMAL LEWIS ARE NEXT OPTIONS AT RB
RUDI, THOMAS JONES, EDGERRIN AND FRED TAYLOR ARE FA
BICOL BRONCOS - Mark Ascercion
STARTERS - With the retirement of Brett Favre, the team can now activate Aaron Rodgers.  Rodgers is still an unknown commodity and the new owner should go for a starting QB and a RB to pair with Clinton Portis in the Auction Draft since Chris Brown does not seem to be the answer.  The big question is whether to franchise Jamal Lewis or try to resign him in the Auction Draft for a lower salary.  Transitioning Lewis is another option...  TE Kellen Winslow can be resigned at a reasonable $3.60 but Vernon Davis is already on the payroll at $3.50.
RESERVES - WR Anthony Gonzalez and QB Tarvaris Jackson are possible activations from the Practice Squad.  Otherwise, the cupboard is bare.
COLLEGE DRAFT - With the team having the top two picks in the 2008 draft, it can potentially pick up serviceable starters in 2008.  If Darren McFadden can come close to Adrian Peterson's 2007 rookie season, the team may contend for the 6th playoff spot.
TRADE BAIT - There's no one who's been acquired in a trade, has a big contract, and has 1 year left.  There are those 2 top picks.  Vernon Davis anyone?

2008 TOP FREE AGENT QB

Top QB Free Agent! Aug. 5, 2008: DEREK ANDERSON IS #1 FA QB   Projected FPTS: 328
You gotta love the NFL: Derek Anderson went from unknown to Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback and a Fantasy hero plucked off the waiver wire in early 2007. His constant gunning and connecting with Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow helped pave the way for him to throw for nearly 3,800 yards with 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions with another three scores on the run. Armed with a new contract, Anderson will not only have the task of beating those stats, but will have the added firepower in WR Donte Stallworth to do so. He's just outside of the top-five Fantasy QBs out there, but he has arrived as a reliable No. 1 option so long as the rest of his offensive teammates in Cleveland stay healthy.  More QB FA...
JET QB BRETT FAVRE IS A FA
JAKE DELHOME AND JON KITNA ARE THE NEXT BEST OPTIONS
GLENDALE CHARGERS - Jon Legaspi
STARTERS - If WR Terrell Owens is resigned to a justifiable $22.80, team only needs RB2 and DST1.  With Peyton on board, this team should make the playoffs barring injuries.
RESERVES - Jeff Garcia is solid at QB2.  Otherwise, the team better stay healthy.
COLLEGE DRAFT -
TRADE BAIT - If the team wants to build for the near future, Peyton is tradable having only 1 year left on his contract, as is Jeff Garcia.  Witten may also be atractive to a playoff team with a hole at TE.  Trading Peyton to the Bicol Broncos for the top 2 picks and a solid player would be attractive.  TO can then be a sign-and-trade deal to pile up future options.

2008 TOP FREE AGENT WR

Top WR Free Agent! Aug. 5, 2008: STEVE SMITH IS #1 FA WR Projected FPTS: 176.4
Panthers WR Steve Smith received a two-game team-issued suspension for an altercation with a teammate in training camp in early August. Once Smith gets back on the field, he hopes to enjoy catching balls from Jake Delhomme, something he didn't do much of last year. With Delhomme, Smith averaged 17.5 yards per catch over three games; without him, he averaged 10.1 yards per catch in 12 games. Despite the suspension, Smith is still a nice No. 1 Fantasy WR who might fall to the fifth round of drafts because owners won't want to deal with being without him for the first two weeks. So long as you draft a suitable starter to spot Smith's first two games (teammate D.J. Hackett is an option), you'll be fine. More WR FA...
TORRY HOLT IS #2 WR FA
PLAXICO, GREG JENNINGS AND MARVIN ARE ALSO FA
NATIONAL CITY HUSKY BOYS - Open Team
STARTERS - RB2 is a definite need and would likely get filled with $72.40 available in cap space.  There'll be enough cap to then sign a top defense or a top QB.
RESERVES - There's depth at wide receiver.
COLLEGE DRAFT -
TRADE BAIT - WR Marques Colston would free up $10.60 and may generate a lot of interest on the market.
